Great Vacation, Great Hotel

We visited Washington DC for the first time during the last week of July. We checked so many hotels before we booked our room, and we were impressed with what others said about the State Plaza. After our stay we too were pleased. The location was great and convenient to walk to the National Mall. It was also about 3 blocks from the Foggy Bottom Metro station, so we did not have to walk home after an entire day of walking to the sites, museums, zoo, etc.. We did have to talk with locals to find places to eat that did not break the bank, but all the locals were very helpful. The CVS next door was covenient so that we could have food and snacks. The only challenge was that the South lobby was being remolded, and we always had to enter from F Street, and walk to the South end of the hotel. The room was nice, the beds were comfortable and the pillows were soft and fluffy. They had a business area with computers that was accessible, but a little slow. The staff was good and arranged transportation for us on two occasions. We had no complaints, and would recommend and even stay here again. Thanks.

Excellent service

I visited June 26 through June 28. Staff was extremely friendly, room was clean and comfortable. Room service was relatively prompt but food was still too cold. This hotel is centrally located and is within minutes walking distance to most sights. There is ample free on the street parking on weekends and one block away from great food. There is a CVS next door. I would definitely stay again and have recommended it to others.

For us the hotel has a great location. Within walking distance of the Lincoln Memorial, White House, Washington Memorial and the Foggy Bottom Metro station, which we used everyday to go any where that was not withing walking distance. Like Arlington, the National Airport, Union Station, etc. Very clean large rooms with friendly staff. Great price. Would reccomend it to anyone. Would pick this hotel if we were to repeat this trip.

Local Restaurants

My only complaint was the fact that the hotel staff didn?t know the area well. I was traveling with three 10 year olds, and needed restaurants within walking distant. When asked about places to eat, they recommend the restaurant within the hotel. Like most kids, my children eat chicken fingers, fries and burgers, not calamari. I also asked about an ice cream shop in the area, and was told that there was a CVS around the corner. On our last night I passed a couple with small children and asked if they had any luck with restaurants. They directed me to a mall area within three blocks of the hotel. It had an ice cream shop, Johnny Rockets, Italian restaurant (great food)?.. I wish we had known about the area on the first day. --- Our walking trips were toward the monuments, and museums; away from the local eateries.

The room was clean and comfortable. The other reviews mentioned big fluffy pillows - AND THEY WERE RIGHT! Very big and fluffly pillows ! We slept very well ! There wasn't a coffee maker when we got to our room and with a call to the front desk the staff promptly delivered one - within minutes. Everyone was courteous, friendly and helpful. There was only a very short wait for the elevator, that is IF you had to wait. Plenty of water pressure, hot water and towels. The location was good. There was a CVS drug store right next to the hotel, which became very convenient. The Mall was only a short walk away. The Vietnam and Lincoln Memorials were just two blocks away. A short walk to Georgtown and the Metro was a few more blocks to walk, but the area was so pleasant you didn't mind. Everyone at the Metro were very friendly and helpful and was easy to travel. I was very happy with my visit and would stay here again.
