Bed bugs!

  • June 11, 2008

This hotel looks clean but it has bed bugs! We were bitten overnight, on body, legs, even eyelid and lips. We complained and were offered a future free night's stay instead of a refund. We will not be staying there again! It was our worst travel experience ever.

Nice, but far away from town

Overall the hotel was nice. The staff were very courteous and helpful, especially the bellman who helped us with transportation. The restaurant was surprisingly good and a $20 off breakfast coupon was included with our room charge. We were disappointed at how far away all transportation except city buses were-the metro train is not near here at all. We were not in the heart of Georgetown and thus were a long walk from most of the restaurants and shops. There is a free hotel shuttle but it was not able to go where we needed to go. We ended up taking several cab rides or we walked about 3/4 mile to and from the double decker tour bus. There was a grocery store nearby which was very handy.

Pleasent Stay

The Georgetown Holiday Inn was a pleasent place to stay, with several good amenities, including an outdoor pool. The rooms could use in-room refrigerators and in-room wifi, though there is a hard-wire connection if you happen to carry the correct cable. The hotel is a little off the beaten path but provides a shuttle to the nearest Metro station and fairly easy access to DC.

Where's the fridge?

The hotel is far from the subway, but using the free shuttle and the bus across the street I had no problem getting around. Website mentioned a fridge and microwave in each room which was nowhere to be found. Parking very expensive - should be free or very discounted for guests. Room was very clean and services excellent.
