Cheapest I could find.

When I booked this hotel, it was the cheapest listed for the area of San Luis Obispo, that being said it was not a terrible stay, but not the best stay ever either. The bed was very hard, our mini-refrigerator, made a really loud buzzing sound, it could have been fixed with a piece of duct tape, we didn't bother, we just unplugged it. Shower and bath were decent, clean, good water pressure. Our toilet seat was broken, but still clean. The in-room aircon/heater worked well, but made the carpet wet.
The hotel as a nice pool and jacuzzi. Clean and well taken care of. was a treat.
The travel agency is idiotic. I at first booked one night and then decided I wanted to stay one more night. I called the travel agency customer service, and was told I would have to make a separate reservation. I did, when I arrived at the hotel, they told me I would have to check out the next day at 11 and then check back in. A little inconvenient. but pretty idiotic. whether it is the hotel or the travel agency, most likely both, it is ridiculous.
The staff was friendly. Not a very good continental breakfast. It being the cheapest I could find I would stay there again, but expect a tolerable stay, what do u expect of the cheapest you could find?
Also hotel staff told me to check the vagabond inn direct website to make a booking, also call the hotel direct. most likely the hotel will match the travel agency prices, and it will be cheaper, because the hotel charges less taxes. vs the travel agency

The room was filthy expecially the rugs. The electricty countuously went out. Froze to death all night kept having to call and ask for electricity so I could have some heat. When I checked out I tried to talk to the manager and was lied to and told he was gone till the next day. I called the next day and was told the manager was gone for 3 weeks and I asked to talk to whoever was incharge. I talked to a guy named xxx who refused to tell me his last name. I told him how cold I had been and you should never have to freeze in a hotel and he refused to compensate me because it was not his fault it was a technical problem. I told him it was his fault and he should call a professional electrician to fix the problem. I asked to talk to the owner and he said he was the highest up to talk to and yelled at me, was rude and threatened to hang up. I told him I am reporting this to the Better Business Bureau and hung up. I did not have his name, called back and asked him for it and he would only say xxx and told me he did not need to tell me his last name. I have since make an official report to the BBB and to the Vagabond Inn Franchise official website for all the good that will do. I have to write this review to warn people DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL EVER.
Worse Experience I have ever had and I have stay at many hotels.

We were in SLO for the weekend to drop off our son at school. The young man at the front desk was very pleasant even though he had to unlock the lobby to let us in (11pm). When we got to our "non-smoking" room we were hit with the smell of stale cigarettes. The bedspread had been turned back and a room key was on the desk which looked like someone had checked in and immediately checked out/switched rooms. The carpet was dingy and had several large stains. I'm not a neat freak, but I didn't want to walk barefoot on it. The one upolstered chair in the room didn't look much cleaner. The dead bolt on the door was extermly difficult to lock, and conversely, to unlock. Both wall mounted light fixtures looked as if they had been salvaged from Katrina cleanup. They were rusty around the edges of the wall mounts and the lightshade rims on all three. The light fixture between the beds only stayed lit if the knob was postitioned just-so. One of the picutres on the wall had a 4 inch high water stain. For all of this "luxury" we were charged $* on Friday, and $* on Saturday.
On the plus side, the pool/spa area was well maintained and the bathroom in our room looked as if it had been recently redone. There was also ample parking despite the fact that we were there on a busy weekend.
I will never stay here again.

We had just entered the room and my wife went to the bathroom sink and asked if I could fix something. I went to pull the sink stop and the entire piece just lifted up. Since I was there I figured I would wash my face. As the water ran, it just kept rising. There was no need for a sink stop since the drain was clogged anyways. That night we tried to turn on the lights next to the bed. They didn't work. Add the thin walls and noise from the adjoining rooms and it was the biggest waste of $*.00. Our room # 211. 211 is the call sign for robbery in progress.
