SLO was great but La Cuesta far without car

I was traveling up California by train and bus so wanted to get places near city bus lines or the train station. I'd never been to SLO before so didn't realize this motel was a few miles from the train station and not on a bus line. SLO has a decent bus system but even when I figured it out, La Cuesta was not the most convenient. It is right by the freeway, so if you have a car, it would be pretty convenient. The staff was excellent and the room was very comfortable. Even though it was by the freeway, I didn't hear the sound in my room and I was facing the freeway (you couldn't see it though because of the trees). It's near Cal Poly (again, if you have a car) and the hills behind it are really pretty. It was one of the more expensive places I stayed, more than my hotels in LA and SF.

Traveled w/teenager for college tours. Hotel is minutes from SLO, downtown and freeway. Clean, clean and clean. Price was excellent and we added an extra day after seeing the hotel. They served beverages and fresh baked cookies each afternoon/evening as well as an excellent continental breakfast. Looks like it has recently been remodeled/updated. Bathrooms had granite countertops, tile floors. Carpets looked new. Still had older window sytyle heater/air cond. but the heater worked fine. Would defintiely stay there again.

Stayed here originally because it had rooms with two queen beds for a reasonable price. We have a student at Cal Poly and the hotel has great access to campus and down town. Staff was exceptional.

Clean, Friendly and conveniently located. Very Restful. Great breakfast buffet.
