Bait and Switch

Was told one price on phone and when checked in, was told another price $30 more. When I complained, the non-English speaking desk clerk said it was a special only for weekdays. It was too late to change hotels. Checked for bedbugs due to condition of room, but sheets seemed clean. Chewed fingernails beside bedstand and pop stain down side of mattress. Beds were hard. Air conditioner worked more like a fan. Carpet was bare and stained. Towels were raggedy. Bathroom peeling and porcelain sink bowl so old it had cracks. Shower pressure good, but only a window to vent air. Phone said Super 8 on it. Pool was miniscule. Depressed area of town. Iron, hairdryer, microwave and small fridge in room. TV seemed newer. I also cleaned my suitcases when I came home. The most run-down and overpriced place I've ever stayed. Don't waste your money.

Making improvements

My husband and I stayed here when we took a weekend trip to Erie, just to visit. The pictures looked much better than the hotel actually is. There was mold around the door and windows in out room, as well as the bathroom window. The room itself was not bad at all. I felt that it was clean and the furniture and carpet was new. They should have done something about the mildew though. The staff was very helpful in advising us towards the area's nightlife. They were unfamiliar with the wineries, however made every effort to help us locate them (this is why we went.) They were very nice and mannerly. The continental breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. Not much of a spread, but I think they are doing their best to make improvements.

Carpets need scrubbed, lights need fixed, plumbing needs fixed, base boards need replaced, sheets need washed or replaced, and needs better customer service. I was told this room was 'already a good price' when I complaing to management. Still working with corp to resolve issues.

Not a pleasant place

This hotel was not a very clean or pleasant place to stay. The lobby was dingy and the plaster on the outside of the building was chipping and falling off. The manager/service were unpleasant, refusing to let us switch to a non-smoking room when we realized they had put us in a smoking one. They would only let us switch to a non-smoking room for an additional nightly fee! The actual room itself was very "low-rent" with broken ceiling boards and burnt out lights. We didn't feel very safe there.
