Daytona Beach Disaster

I had read through the previous reviews and really should have paid attention to the comments made by Anonymous from Charleston, SC as well as Anonymous from chattanooga, TN . You definitely get what you pay for! Whatever "renovations" that were being done in 2007 are definitely no where to be seen in 2008! The carpets are still disgusting, the towels still cheap, the beds are older and the musty smell is everywhere. The only saving grace would be the incredible view of the Worlds Most Famous Beach, the pool is well maintained and there is a life guard posted directly behind the "resort". If money were spent on actual renovations this place could be a great place to get away from it all!

Front desk people were very polite. The room itself was dirty; I got the impression from the cleaning supplies in the closet this was a "do-it-yourself" kind of place, but prior visitors obviously hadn't cleaned-up after themselves. The room had a mini-kitchen that needed some renovation & repair; otherwise the room furnishings looked OK. Bed & couch were basically comfortable, not remarkable. Pool area & outside grounds were very attractive & clean. We did discover there was active repair & remodeling going on in other areas of this hotel. Good location on the beach; free parking.

Our door had graffitti on it, the room was disgusting, the elevator hadnt been serviced in over 4 years, fire alarms were pulled repeatedly, manager yelled at kids for dripping water on the floor...pool was disgusting, bar was dirty and everyone was rude, our balcony chairs were broken and too dirty to sit on anyways. in the days we actually stayed we made sure to be gone most of the time so we didnt have to deal with the hotel staff, we ended up leaving 3 days early, bc it was so.. DONT STAY!

I have now stayed here at least 6 out of seven weekends and it is simply the best. The employees and residents make it so. xxx and xxx at the front desk are the best and will always do what they have to to make sure you have a great stay. I am so sad every time I leave because they feel like family. If I could I would work, eat sleep and play there for the rest of my life. You can't go wrong staying at Castaways!!!

I have stayed here 3 times and the location, staff, pool, and the bar staff are all wonderful. I am treated like an old friend every time I go.
