Outdated and tip hungry workers

If you like going back 50 years and reliving older accomodations, with power outlets falling out of the walls, and promised Internet not working, old elevators which require elevator operators that expect tips every time you need to ride the elevator then you will love this place.

Great hotel for a bargain price

My wife and I stayed here for 7 nights with two children. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly, and the location was great. The room was larger than I expected from past experience traveling to hotels in the center of large cities. It was quiet and the service was great. The elevators are the manual kind with an attendant, but that never slowed us down. A warning about cost is that the cost of parking a car there is pretty high, and in the end cost us more than our rental car cost. But the convenience of a car for us was worth it. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others, and I am going to be in DC in a couple of months for business and I will stay here again.

Best hotel surprise ever!

A wonderful, intimate but charming hotel in the heart of D.C. -- 4 blocks from the White House and right next to George Washington University. Large, spotless rooms (mini-suites, really); excellent restaurant and lounge; first-class service; friendly staff -- and all this for a fraction of the cost of the nearby 'big name' hotels. It's within easy walking distance of some of D.C.'s best restaurants, and only 3 blocks from the Metro. I would never stay anywhere else when I go back. By the way, I did not have a car, so don't know about the parking arrangements -- probably worth checking if you plan to drive, because the downtown location would make on-street parking a hassle. But lose the car and stay there anyway -- it's worth it!

Would stay again

This hotel was great! Within walking distance to EVERYTHING!! Has historical charm. The elevator which had to be hand operated by the bell boys was fine. (a little bumpy =)) The bed was very comfortable and the service was great. The restaurant downstairs was also yummy!
