In need of updating

We just got back from a short vacation. We have a family of 5 and they put us in a room with 2 double beds (small and hard) and a pull out sofa. The pull out was the largest bed around. When we asked about getting an upgrade they were full because a water pipe had burst in their sister hotel, Sands, and had brought those guest over. The room appeared clean but had a musty smell. When I complained they gave me a can of air freshner. The small refrig. wouldn't stay closed so the food spoiled quickly. The cabinets on the inside looked bad as well. I wouldn't even put things inside them. The towels had stains on them. My husband said that a couple of days he thought we kept getting the same towels because they had the same stain on them. The pool was ok but was often cloudy. This could be a problem when you can't see the bottom of the pool. With no lifegaurd, the kids were loud until late in the night. I am surprised that no one got hurt. Access to the beach was very easy. The beach was clean and beautiful. Getting around to other areas of Myrtle Beach was easy. It took about 10 minutes to travel to Broadway at the beach. There are lots of things to see and do while in Myrtle Beach. We will not be staying here again. There are lots of other choices around.

Rooms not kid safe

The ocean views are great, but not at the risk of my child. No chain locks on the doors and they can be easily open by a toddler. The lock in the patio did not work..we were on the 10th floor! Maintenance did replace it. the rails on the balcony are set wide enough for a small child to fall through easily. If you don't have kids...I would recommend this place. Or if you stay, stay on a lower floor with no ocean view.

The smell of Mildew

The ice machine on our floor had been leaking for a long time. The carpet in the hallway had the unforgettable smell of mold/must/mildew. Despite numerous complaints to the front desk, nothing was done about it.Do not waste your money here!

Front desk staff friendly, check in easy & quick, alot of room/hallway noise, window beside door which could pose safety issues for women traveling alone, room clean w/ new carpet, affordable stay, strange smell in room when returning in the evenings
