Lagoon Tower in Waikiki and Bay Club at Waikoloa

  • September 19, 2007
  • Rated 5 of 5 by Karen and Terry from New Albany, Indiana
The Lagoon Tower was very nice, new, clean, with a nice lobby with a small convenience store, decent prices for the location. Washer and dryer on your floor, no coins required. The pool was great, but very crowded, the walk to the beach was short, the beach was very nice.

The Bay Club at Waikoloa Village was also very nice, a little bit older, but well maintained. Washer and dryer in the condo was great. Pools were a bit small, but not crowded at all. The shuttle around the grounds was nice, it's very dark to walk around at night. The beach is a little ways away, but very nice also.

The accommodations were perfect. They were everything they were supposed to be. Each day the beds were made, the dishes washed, and the apartment cleaned.

Best Things About the Resort:
location near Waikiki beach, lots of stores and restaurants within walking distance, view of Diamond Head, submarine adventure on grounds

Resort Experience:
Spacious, modern two-bedroom with two bathrooms. Two balconies, both with different ocean views - we had the standard side with view of ships in dock and some garbage dumpsters below, but could see ocean view from second balcony. No jet tub/jacuzzi in room, but has one hot tub and pool with limited hours (closed at 7pm), which we never had time to use.

HGVC at Hilton Hawaiian Village

Best Things Nearby:
The Hilton Hawaiian Village had enough shops and boutiques to keep you busy every day. The beautiful Waikiki Beach is just steps away from your door. The up-scale shopping in the heart of the Waikiki area was just blocks from the resort, with local transportation (THE BUS) available. The Ala Moana Mall was nearby, as well as Chinatown and the downtown area with its historical sites.

Best Things About the Resort:
Of course, the best thing about this timeshare was that it is in Hawaii! But the location on the beach, with everything easily accessible, was a bonus. The valet parking (fee for service) was wonderful and efficient. Being able to use the amenities of the Hilton Hawaiian Village was an added bonus. The pools were beautiful.

Resort Experience:
We had a two-bedroom oceanfront unit. We were thrilled from the moment we walked in. The master bedroom (with bath) had a king size bed, TV, good size closet and dresser drawers. The closet doors had full length mirrors. Our second bedroom (bath across the hall) had two twin beds, TV and good closet space. The living room space had a balcony, comfortable sofa, chairs . . . large TV video player and stereo. Both the dining area and kitchen were well equipped. There was a second balcony off the dining area. The kitchen had everything you'd need, even a rice steamer, but could have used a non stick skillet, and a casserole dish with a lid. A pantry area for storage was a nice feature. All appliances were new . . . counter tops were granite, and included a breakfast bar with two stools. The entire unit was EXTREMELY clean. The bath did not have a whirlpool tub as other HGVC units do, but it was Hawaii . . . I didn't care! The clothes line in bathtub area was a nice touch. We plan to return as soon as possible.

Our unit was on the "67" side of the building (as the staff refers to it) which faced the neighboring yacht club. One morning we were able to check out a unit on the opposite side of the building. Unless you are in 'just' the right area, you won't have a view of Diamond Head. We felt the view of the yacht harbor was far more interesting. We got beautiful sunset photos from our balcony. The sun hit our balcony in the afternoon from 2pm on . . . we never did sunbathe at the pool (which was beautiful), but it was nice to be right at our unit.

Best Things Nearby:
The streets of Waikiki, the beautiful beaches, and watersports.

Best Things About the Resort:
It is in the heart of the Hilton Hawaiian Village--22 acres of dining, shopping, bars, beach, pools...everything you could want in a resort.

Resort Experience:
We stayed in a spacious one-bedroom ocean view condo in the Lagoon Tower, the Hilton Grand Vacations Club timeshare property. The accommodations were beautiful. There was a nice Polynesian feel to the room and a tropical paradise awaiting you on the 22-acre grounds. Everything was like new as the building was converted to the Grand Vacations club only a few years ago.

Our view was outstanding--we spent every morning on our lanai (patio) eating breakfast, drinking chocolate macadamia nut coffee, and watching the waves crash in. The resort grounds contained numerous restaurants, bars serving tropical drinks, and pools. The beach was beautiful and the water was perfect for swimming. Nightly, there was an aloha show where you could watch hula dancers, drink a mai tai, and feel the tradewinds kiss your skin. A perfect place to stay in Waikiki.
