My friend accidentally booked the Stratosphere on priceline. We had ruled it out, due to its location -- so far from the main part of the strip. But it wasn't that bad. The Deuce is crowded and very slow at peak times. There is a stop right in front of the hotel. But the hotel rooms were just fine. The beds were very comfortable. Everything was clean. We ate at Roxie's Diner, which was fine and the Buffet for breakfast once. It's not really worth the money. There's a Denny's a block away and a Carl's Jr's across the street. The check-in staff were OK -- there were never enough people staffed there, though. The concierge was not helpful. They charge $5 to print your boarding pass, which should be free. The slots were OK. They eventually took our money, but so did the other casinos. The tower does have a great view -- and when we went up there, we thought we would have to pay $10. But it was free to hotel guests. We felt like we didn't investigate all aspects of the hotel because there was so much to see and do in Vegas. If price is more important than location, stay here. If being in the middle of the action is important, stay in the middle of the strip where you don't have to walk so far or spend so much time on the bus. Fremont Experience is just OK. It's geared toward older, on-a-budget travelers. The middle of the strip is a much younger, hipper crowd. Bring your walking shoes!

Great Value for Price Paid

Yet another Vegas hotel that's so all-inclusive that you may not even need to leave the hotel to have fun! If for no other reason, this hotel was worth staying at just to get free admission to the tower for viewing - we went a couple of times just to see the breath-taking views at different times of the day. Anyone who rides the Insanity or X-Scream is INSANE, but we enjoyed squealing in horror at watching them dangle over the edge at about 900 ft off the ground! The rooms are very basic, but you're not planning to spend much time in there anyway (if you're doing your vacation right) so who cares if they're not decked out with fine paintings, a wet bar, etc. The rooms are excellent where it counts: the beds. Glorious! Plush, cushy, high thread-count sheets/duvets, tons of pillows. The hotel itself is a nice mix of old Vegas with a simplistic, modern touch. The shops have nice souvenirs (as opposed to cheap junk) and the dining choices are stellar. We had one of the best meals of our lives at Lucky's - so we recommend the $10.99 steak and shrimp deal, as well as the shrimp and scallops dinner. The desserts were also to drool/die for. The location isn't as bad as others have made it out to be - you're between The Strip and downtown. The neighborhood is a little rundown, but it's not reason enough to be scared. Yes, there are panhandlers...but what big city doesn't have that? Just be smart and use common sense like you would in any other big city. Use The Deuce or monorail (from Sahara - 1 block walk) to get around and the $8 airport shuttle (ask concierge).

awsome

This hotel was horrible, dirty, and old. The pictures of their hotel rooms were nothing like the room we stayed in. They are currently doing construction in the casino and it is loud and annoying from anywhere in the casino, including the buffet. The buffet was not worth the money, I would have rather eaten in Mc Donalds instead. The overall experience was awful, I would not recommend this hotel or casino to anyone!
