This was the most beautiful resort I have ever experienced. The staff was excellent very helpful and friendly. They actually called the room everyday to see if we needed anything. This was one of the most expensive resorts but it was well worth it. The rooms were large and we had a beautiful view of the mountains. The only drawback was the pool area was fairly small and if you did not get down to the pool by 10:00 a.m. you could not find a spot. The spa at the resort was fabulous! They made you feel very special and I would love to go back someday!

Great hotel, my wife and I stayed here in Oct 04 and came back for more. We stayed in a Deluxe Ocean View room this time and it was definitely worth the extra money as we had stayed in a Mountain View room during our previously stay. The oriental Garden is very peaceful and well kept up. The pool is great huge with a cool little swim up grotto bar. We enjoyed our trip immensely and will return at our next earliest opportunity. There is always something to do on the island and you will surely not be disappointed as long as you understand that it is not a place to come on a budget. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!!!

Hyatt should be embarrassed by the condition of this hotel. The hotel is old, dingy, dirty and is only a two star rating at best. Had we planned on staying more than one night we would have moved hotels. On entry the room was musty so we aired it out. We waited 45 minutes for two wine glasses, the TV remote was inoperable, the TV keyboard did not work and the ceiling light in the bathroom was falling out. The wood work was scratched and battered...in short the hotel is in dire need of a make-over. We brought this up with the front desk with no reply.
The hotel is old, very old. We expected a first class hotel for the price paid (we always stay in 5 star hotels). You can do better....try the Westin.
The Vacation from Hell!

During my "vacation" at the Hyatt Maui, I endured lots of noise from the 700+ conventioneers staying at the hotel, including one large party across the hall that lasted until 2 a.m., two very flooded rooms, rude treatement from the operators and staff (who were not happy at all that I complained), poor food and food service, long lines at the breakfast buffet, a lack of available parking space, and miscellaneous charges for just about everything, including a mandatory $15 resort fee. I ended up sick my whole stay from the lack of sleep and constant stress and I spent most of my time trying to persuade the staff to take my concerns seriously, as well as packing and re-packing as I was moved to other rooms. Maui was being hit with storms and the patio doors are not water sealed! Many guests had to be relocated away from the ocean because of room flooding! As a longtime elite member of Hyatt and several other hotel chains, I have traveled extensively througout the world. And for a variety of reasons, this was, by far, the worst hotel experience I have ever had in my life! Do yourself a favor and do not go to the Hyatt Maui.

Excellent hotel overall!! Friendly staff and service, comfortable, beautiful environment with great restaurants, many activities, shops, close to other shopping areas (Lahaina and Whalers Village), and animals (pink flamingos, parrots, mccaws, and swans)!!! We stayed for a week in late November. The weather was perfect and less crowded. The #1 beach in Maui (Kannapali) is only a few feet away from the enormous hotel pools. Plenty of activities to keep you busy in the hotel with tennis, snorkeling and scuba diving lessons, shopping, eating, spa treatment, or just lying out in the sun by the pool (there's a great water slide!!!) while waiters serve you drinks. Lahaina is only a few miles south of the hotel with great shops and restaurants. Other hotels are nearby (Westin and Marriot) to visit and explore. And Whalers Village is nearby for more shops and restaurants. We had no problems with the staff and service. They were friendly and very helpful. Perhaps it was because it was less crowded. Overall, it was a great experience. Highly recommended.
