Hotel under construction !

Saturday, March 22, 2008 Here I am in the hotel on our last day wishing things had been better. I booked (3) rooms for my family and hoped for a wonderful experience based on all of the great reviews. The hotel is building a new restaurant adjacent to the pool. The work is just now in the demolition stage with jack hammers and tractors working and looks like it will be at least 6 to 9 months of work going on. The hotel plays some music real loud trying to mask the construction noise. This is not only loud and distracting by the pool but it took another restaurant out of service so all of the people that got the breakfast included with their stay have to go to a single restaurant causing long waiting lines. (Like 30 to 45 minutes starting at 7:30 AM) We are staying in the Atrium towers and the elevators have been having trouble all week. Nearly every day one or two of the elevators have been out of service. This puts a lot of traffic on the other elevator so there is always a line waiting to get on. To make it worse they make this Crack, Crack, Crack noise as they come to a stop on the bottom floor. I mentioned this to one of the maintenance crew and they acknowledge that this is normal. The elevator company service trucks have been at the back door all week and they only are able to rotate which elevator is working. The remaining elevator doesn't seam to know to stop on the way down, so you must call the elevator to go up and get on and ride up a floor or two so you can ride down to your destination. OK, so this morning the elevator doors sticks in the half open position and we are stuck in the elevator (8 of us) until I forcefully open the doors by pressing my body against them. My wife and I have been taking the stairs now (89 to the first floor yes we counted) I called and reported the elevators and took the time to complain to the hotel manager about our disappointing stay. They offered to comp the hotel resort fee and apologized. I asked them to reevaluate the comp so they offered $600 total. I have just spent $16,000 in room fees and found this a little disappointing. We would not have come if we new of the construction in advance I hope you are able to save a few travelers the full price this hotel charges even as it is under construction. Sincerely,

great stay

we arrived with a group and had a room facing parkink lot and side view of ocean.staff changed us to ocean pool view immediately.we were in the room for 2 days and had a plumbing problem.we told staff and they moved us to a corner room in the atrium tower with a double balcony and views of mountains and ocean!we felt the staff went out of their way to make orr stay as enjoyable as possible.the grounds and pool were always clean and manicured.we recommend renting a cabana on the beach 20to30 dollars a day-but nice and private.even though we experienced a couple of minor problems wefelt the staff went overboard to make sure we were happy.we have traveled extensively over the last 25 yrs.and would highly recommend this hotel.

The staff was friendly, the hotel clean and the view from our room was great. If you are into sushi, they have a great place to eat at the hotel. The stay was very pleasent and I look forword to another trip real soon.

Luxurious, swanky, nice.

I was delighted with the place. Gardens were exquisite, parrots, swans, flamingos, penguins, koi ponds, classy coffee bar, discrete high end shops, very nicely done. Not tacky. Clean rooms, recently renovated. Check out the observatory. Given that I was very satisfied, I will share some quibbles: The breakfast restaurant had very beat up chairs, not too nice. The buffet food is hard to do well - it was often so-so. The wait time to enter breakfast was unnecessary - caused by the hostesses actually. The valet service was rude once, but they have a tough job. Overall, great. I would go back. Lahaina has a lot to offer.

My husband and I came here for our honeymoon. From the second we stepped foot into the resort until the second we stepped out we were treated like royalty. It was a BEAUTIFUL resort with the most warm and friendly staff we have ever encountered. The food was excellent but a little pricey, if you have the money then there are no complaints. We were so satisfied that we decided to go there for our one year anniversary and are ecstatic to do so. Trust me we have stayed in our share of places but this by far really treats you like true important guests to all the staff. We recommended it to honeymooners, families or anyone who wants to enjoy All that Hawaii has to offer!
