Great location, great staff!

My husband and I came to Chicago for a romantic vacation and stayed 4 days at the Amalfi. We could not have been more pleased. Great location! Two blocks from the river, 3 from shopping on Michigan Ave., subway stops nearby, tons of bars and restaurants within very easy walking distance. A little further walk took us to the Art Institute and Milleneum Park or Hancock Tower. Every floor has a free continental breakfast which was a money saver, and free access to the nice business center. The room was standard issue hotel room, quite comfortable and clean...great water pressure in shower. Street view below kept us entertained. The staff was outstanding, incredibly friendly and helpful. We cannot say enough nice things about how we were treated. We would definitely recommend this hotel for any couple traveling without kids or a car.

Amalfi Hotel Chicago

Staying at the Amalfi was very pleasant overall. The entire hotel is very modern and up to date, and everything was spotless. The concierge and other personnel were very helpful in expediting checking in and out, and provided some really great suggestions of places to visit and where to eat. The room itself was very comfortable, the bed and its linens and pillows were among the softest I've ever experienced. All of the bathroom products, lotions, shampoos and such, were from Aveda and were of top quality. The best part I believe was the dual shower head that could be adjusted to cover any two areas of the body, a bit wasteful on water but still great! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Chicago in style at a semi luxury hotel. The Amalfi is rated as a 4 star hotel, but I would have been fooled thinking it was 5 if nobody told me. I also got a great deal on staying there through Travelocity, plane tickets from Boston to Chicago and back, as well as a 3-night stay for two people only came to $! My only regret was that they did not have a pool, but understandable being that its a small hotel.

great value for the money!

I picked this hotel after reading other reviews on this site. My boyfriend and I had never been to Chicago and I booked this place on a whim. The photos looked decent and people seemed to rate it well so I figured we would give it a try. This hotel will not be for everyone (especially those with small children who are looking for a place with a pool... -but if they did their homework they would clearly know that was not an amenity listed and wouldn't complain about it later!) I thought the service was good, the experience designers were helpful with suggestions and making reservations. The location was not ON Michigan Ave, but it's only a short walk. The view wasn't amazing...but who goes to Chicago in the middle of the summer to look out their hotel window?? Good water pressure, and great smelling Aveda products that make you feel like you are at the spa. The continental breakfast in the morning was simple, but FREE, and just enough to hold you over until lunch. Plus, you just put on your robe and stroll out into the hall to get your food!! The evening manager's reception was a little crowded some evenings, but again, this is something that is COMPLIMENTARY!!! It was a nice way to unwind after a long day of walking around the city. We also had an opportunity to talk to people we would have never met otherwise. There are some cold appetizers and drinks. The Amalfitini is very good and worth a try (unless you don't like sweet drinks). I feel this hotel was a great value for the money. I would stay there again and recommend it to anyone traveling to Chicago.
