Amalfie Hotel in Chicago

The Amalfie was a nice surprise. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't as close to Michigan Avenue as their website indicated, however it was very clean, classic decor and the conciege was extremely helpful - in fact both that we dealt with went out of their way to make our stay a good one. The hotel is right in the middle of the State Street area of shopping and just steps from several very good restaurants. I would stay again and I would recommend it anyone wanting to go to the city for a long weekend of shopping and nightlife.

My 3 night stay was fabulous. The Amalfi is very similar to The W, but more intimate and economical. The staff is extremely helpful & friendly. Nice size room, comfy bed and linens, wonderful Aveda products. A very nice continental breakfast and a wonderful cocktail hour.
Close to all the great things to see and do. I was pleasantly surprised- would definitely stay again.

I stayed at the Amalfi this past weekend as a part of a travel website package. I was happy with the hotel itself- as others have said, breakfast right outside your room is great, happy hour was nice (although as stated before the room is just way too small for hosting a cocktail hour.)
If you are looking to enjoy a view of the amazing Chicago skyline or the lake, this is not your hotel. The view from most rooms if of construction. I had a view of not only a cement block wall acoss the street, but also at night had the pleasure of having the large brightly lit hotel sign right outside of my window.
I found the front desk staff to run hot and cold- sometimes helpful and informative, other times very detached without even offering a greeting. One time, I asked for directions to the Chicago theatre and the staff wasn't sure where it was (when in fact it turned out to be across the street.)
I would stay here again for business, but wouldn't choose it for pleasure, based on view and construction in area.

The hotel was wonderful. Centrally located, one block from the Magnificent Mile and directly across the street from Harry Carey's! The breakfast in the morning was perfect. Plenty to eat. Cocktail hour was the best. They had all the premium choice liquors? to choose from, along with some very delicious appetizers. Comfortable bed and a very roomy bathroom. We will definitely stay here again.
