Amalfi Hotel

Hotel convienent to utilize public transportation . Found the continental breakfast provided wide selection of fruit& pastries. All staff members were quick to respond to our requests. Bed was extremely comfortable. Our room was large and in quiet location (4th floor facing Kinzie St). We certainly enjoyed our visit to Chicago and our stay at the Amalfi.

Very small, not a 4 star

The service upon entering was very nice, but the lobby was very tiny. The room was the smallest room I've ever stayed in with 2.5 feet on either side of the bed. The drawers and the doors on the furniture were broken and the sink cracked in the bathroom. There was to be continental breakfast each morning by the elevators, there was the first 2 nights, but not the third. If we had known ahead of time, we could have made other plans for breakfast before sprinting to the airport, but no one gave us any advance warning. If this was a 2 or 3 star hotel, I could have lived with it, but it is priced and rated as a 4, so I expected more.

Met our expectations

This hotel is highly recommendable. Decorated with keen taste and many clever touches, it is a good example of how a little focused attention gets very far. The room came with breakfast and it was by far the best simple breakfast I've seen in the US. Location is central but quiet. Rooms are quiet. Beds were very cpmfortable. Everything very clean. It is worth paying ab it extra for leaving content!

Impressive - would stay again

Husband & I visited for long weekend and we really enjoyed this hotel! The cocktail hour at night was a great addition and a nice place to relax before heading out for the night. You may want to get there early because the room is kinda small and gets crowded early. Rooms nice and hotel is pretty convenient to most things. We will definately stay here again when visiting Chicago.

Lost in Transition

Check in delayed by 2 hours because of late check outs (which they charge extra for). No compensation offered to me while checking in on time. Package left at front desk never delivered. Had to be mailed days later. Room was clean and fresh looking. Employees were presentable (even though they sit wearing their winter coats because the huge sliding glass doors let in blasts of chilling chicago air every 5 seconds). Breakfast at elevator lobby was great. No paper at door in morning. Free DVD rentals at front desk was nice touch. Didn't see an ice machine on my floor. Boutique prices for standard service. Overall disappointment from what I was expecting.
