Great hotel in the middle of a construction site.

This seems to be the only building in a two block area that is not undergoing construction. The hotel is surrounded on two sides by three buildings going up and there is scaffolding EVERYWHERE. One would think that the city would have regulated the hours of construction but the elevator is in the alley behind the hotel and starts up at 5:30am. I could put up with that and maybe even the dumpsters being filled and emptied at all hours but the rats also seem to have taken over - and this place has a restaurant that opens to a sidewalk cafe! Shudder...

Hotel is old but updated. The staff are the best i have seen in chicago. this hotel is located just off the busy streets witch makes it nice. Not much of a view.

Expected an ordinary city hotel room for the low rate that we paid! WOW! Very large bedroom, living room, and super bathroom! Didn't want to leave!

girls weekend

We stayed at the Talbott for a girls' weekend, which happened to be the coldest weekend of the year, wind chills well below zero. Concierge made excellent restaurant recommendations within blocks of the hotel. Missed the brownies at night, but heard they were awesome. The double rooms are by the elevators, but not too loud. The bedspread was stained, and the room had that "sanitized" smell, but it was otherwise very clean and comfortable. No coffee in the rooms, but available downstairs until 11 am. I would definitely stay here again.

Very close to Rush street bars and Miracle Mile shopping, yet quiet and charming. Didn't spend much time in hotel with all the exciting things close at hand. Valet parking expensive but it IS a big city.
