Horrible experience!!!

My family and I recently stayed at the Marriott Chattanooga Convention Center hotel and had a horrible experience. Upon arrival we were told that the rooms were not clean, so we stored our luggage and went to dinner. When we came back we were told there were no more concierge level rooms (which is what we reserved) available. We asked to speak to a manager and were told we could not until the next morning. The first room they tried to put us in embarrassed even the bell man who immediatly called the front desk to request a different room. The next room was not much better. The carpet was dirty, the tiles in the bathroom were missing grout, the sink was cracked...I could go on and on about the condition of the room, but the worst part was the treatment we recieved from the front desk staff and the managers. The next morning when we tried to speak with the manager we were told that the business manager had decided not to honor the online travel agency's reservation we had for the concierge level room and put us in a regular room but continued to charge us for the concierge level rate. We tried to negotiate a regular room rate with them and they refused. We called the online travel agency's customer service and the agent and after 40 minutes he was able to renegotiate a lesser rate for the horrible little room we were put in. On a positive note, I want to state that the bell man and valet were fantastic!!! always courteous and friendly. They were very professional where their management was not.

Not Worth the Money

Planned an impromptu trip to Chattanooga for the weekend and the Marriott was one of the only places with a vacancy...now we know why. The room's AC did not properly cool the room, the bathroom shower was less than clean (mold), the television remote did not work and the television placement made it difficult to see from the bed. The worst aspect of the hotel, however, were the paper thin walls. My wife and I were able to hear entire conversations from the room next door... and the occupants of these rooms were speaking in normal conversation volume. We had to leave the tv on to blot out their conversations. Forget trying the get to sleep early or sleep in late in this hotel! The hotel's location was not not convenient to the aquarium/ riverfront area.

Too much money for a nice room

To go to itty-bitty ole Chattanooga, staying at the Marriot for that price was just a bit too much, but I felt I had few options. The bed was great and I could have stayed in it all night, but I could have done better with a cleaner room if I was staying at a "Marriott." There was a smudge on the toilet bowl (scuff marks?), the tub could have sparkled more, there was a stain on the bed linen and I just feel that for the money I paid, my room should have been spotless! There was a convention of Young Business Leaders of America and they ran the halls til past their posted curfews and I had to call security each night, so the moral of the story is that when you stay next to a convention center, find out who else is going to be at the hotel that very same weekend IN ADVANCE!

I grew up in the chattanooga area and watched them build this hotel. It is a flagship of the Marriott brand, It is very convient to the interstate and pretty much all of chattanooga area. But... DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! We checked into the hotel late friday night to find MOLD in the bathtub, and a very hot room, called the front desk and they prompty moved us to a room on the concerige level (top floor), into another room with MOLD growing in the tub!!!! Also the day we arrived it was over 100 degrees and both the rooms were very hot, the 2nd room did not have the a/c running when we came in and it felt like a sauna!!! the next morning spoke with the front desk they moved us to a 3rd room,... and you guessed it MOLD in the tub again!! Also we left for the day to do some sightseeing left the a/c on max cool and when we returned back to the room in the evening, it had only cooled down to about 80 in our room!!!! I have never had problem out of any Marriott hotel I have ever stayed in... business or personal... and will continue to stay in their hotels, but have never been so embarrased in all of my life to have my family stay in filty and shoddy maintiance work....DONT STAY HERE!!!!!!!! PS.... If you are looking for a good hotel try the courtyard on Bama Rd in the Hamilton Place area ... its very convient to shopping, food, and you wont have to spend $* dollars a night to park...PS it also much newer and cleaner

Room was updated, neat & clean, very comfortable bed & pillows. Towels were scratchy. Staff was friendly & efficient. This hotel will be my hotel of choice upon my next visit to the area.
