Pan Pacific Hotel

The Pan Pacific Yokohama is as good as it gets. It will knock your socks off.

I had the privilege of staying at the Pan Pacific Hotel for one night. In fact, it was my last night of a 3-week stay in Japan. It was the best of the best. Luxury doesn't get better than this, folks.

When you step into the lobby, you will know you are somewhere special. You will be greeted as soon as you get in the door with a hearty youkoso or welcome! Before you know it, you will be whisked into your comfortable room and, egads, what a room it is. It is ultra-modern, but subtle and sophisticated at the same time. The furniture has a cherry wood finish and the lighting sets a comforting mood. Look out the wall-to-wall window, and you are sure to see a fantastic view of the Yokohama port. The bathroom is unbelievable. The floors are tiled in a soft stone, and the shower and toilet doors are made of a soft wall-to-ceiling sanded glass. It’s pure luxury. Expect this room to have everything, and you won't be disappointed.

You would expect this room to be out of reach of the average traveler, but I paid a special internet price of $199 for a twin, and this price included service charges, taxes, and a buffet breakfast for two.

This hotel is also transportation friendly. The Airport Limousine Bus stops at this hotel and can take you to and from the Narita or Haneda airports. Just outside the lobby is the entrance to the Minato Mirai subway line, which can take you to the Yokohama station.

The hotel lobby is connected to the Queens Mall, with loads of shopping and dining opportunities. Just steps away are the Landmark Tower and the Queens Amusement park, where you can hop on the giant Ferris wheel or a roller coaster.

There are several restaurants in the hotel, but if you are looking for something less pricy, there is a Royal Host family restaurant across the street where you can get a nice steak dinner for less than ¥1,500.

The service is unbeatable. The staff is used to international visitors and will bend over backwards to serve you. This hotel was one of the highlights of my trip and a nice finale to my adventure in Japan.
