Description: As we pulled up to the All-Star Movies Resort, the Disney "magic" was hitting us! We were exhausted from a long, rough flight, and suddenly we didn't care- you can't help but to be happy while you stay here! The resort is located at the end of a dead end street, making it a little quieter due to less through traffic.
The front lobby had a gorgeous Christmas tree decorated with movie reels and memorabilia. There was a kids area that had Disney movies playing so the kids could wait during check-in. The cast members were extremely friendly, and when they saw my son, they brought him some crayons and Disney coloring pages to keep him entertained while he waited with us.
Check-in was a breeze, and we were happy to hear that all of our requests had been granted. Although Disney states that they cannot guarantee requests, it has been our experience that they will help their guests in any way possible.
Our room was ready early, so we headed to the Toy Story Section. Each section has two buildings facing each other, with a themed courtyard between them. My son was ecstatic to discover Buzz and Woody character over 2 stories high just outside our room! The Toy Story buildings are close to the food court and main lobby/gift shop, but far enough away to be rather quiet, which was a nice surprise.
The rooms were on the small side, but perfect for our party of three. The Toy Story theming was carried out in the bedspreads, posters and border in the room. We had a standard room, which included 2 double beds, a small table and 2 chairs, and 2 small dressers that the tv sat on.
There was a single sink sitting outside of the bathroom with a nicely lit mirror, and a hairdryer. The bathroom itself was decorated in black and white stars, and had a film strip tiled tub.
"Mousekeeping" was fantastic here- they took my sons toys that we left out and arranged them in funny positions for us to find when we got in from the parks each day- one of those small touches that delighted my son!
We didn’t utilize the 2 pools, but we saw many people in them, (even in December!)because they were heated. There is also a nice playground on property, which even my toddler could climb on safely. There are laundry facilities which I did use, but was a little disappointed to find that almost half of the washers and dryers were out of service. It cost $2.00 to wash a load, and $2.00 to dry, but it took 2 times to dry my clothes.
All in all, we loved this resort- the huge Disney character theming is magical for young and old alike. Also, since the All-Star Resorts are considered "value" resorts, the price doesn't break the budget- we stayed during the "value season", and also applied a AAA discount, we only paid $68.00 a night.
