The lobby is a nice and clean 2-star place. There is a little seating area, and complimentary coffee (quite good). Immediately next to the lobby is the Reception Lounge where they serve Continental Breakfast. Front desk staff was efficient and helpful, but unseasoned.
A quick elevator ride took us to our room. The corridors are very bright and clean. Our room was on the South Side and looked out onto a roof of a strip mall. We got to look at the employees of the neighboring furniture store sneak out back for their cigarette breaks. But this was the only thing unpleasant. I would definitely request a room on the North side, toward the canyon, but room types on that side might be limited. Our room was very large and clean. Two queen beds, and a separate sitting area with pullout sofa and work desk. It was great for our family of 5. The décor is basic Holiday Inn Express motif, but had everything we needed, including refrigerator, hairdryers, ironing boards, coffeemakers, etc. The bathrooms were very clean, but basic.
The Indoor Pool was very nice. Clean towels were plentiful and we had a great time. They also have a basic fitness center attached with equipment.
There is no dining in the hotel, or immediately adjacent. There is, however, a complimentary Continental Breakfast. Holiday Inn Express’ has a great continental breakfast, and this one is no exception. It is great for kids. There are the typical suburban restaurant chains within 5 minutes drive, like Outback Steakhouse, Chili’s, Jakers, Shari’s, Johnny Carino’s, etc. Magic Valley Mall is only ¼ mile away too, with a Macy’s.
Overall, this is the best Twin Falls has to offer. I imagine the Shilo Inn and Ameri-Tel Inn are very similar. I will stay here when I’m in Twin Falls for now on, or at least until a 3-star full service hotel comes to town. Twin Falls is a great American Small City and feels much bigger than it is. The downtown area is great, and the Snake River Canyon and Shoshone Falls are awesome in spring runoff. Just watch out for the dairy farms!
