EMBASSY SUITES ALEXANDRIA ACROSS FROM THE KING ST METRO

Ugh! We have stayed in this hotel five times before and always loved it. However, on this last visit, it was very expensive, the food was overcooked and inedible, they got our order wrong as well and didn't apologize for doing so, the beds were sunken in the middle and falling out of the frame--VERY uncomfortable, and the bathroom was less than perfectly clean. All in all, they have soured us on this visit and we won't be coming back. You should find another in this chain closer to the sights of D.C. that would be just as expensive and probably better run. Yuck! And when you've been out all day in 100 degree heat, the least you can hope for is that they don't burn your daughter's dinner.

Great Location

We had a great experience at the Embassy Suites. The location couldn't have been better. Just across the street from the Metro station. We also really enjoyed the free breakfast and happy hour.

PERFECT FOR A DC VACATION!

This is the place to stay when visiting DC. It is beautiful - location is great - it is clean and comfortable and in a great, safe area! We flew into Wash Natl'l and took the Metro to the hotel (only 2 stops) - SO easy! Leave your car at home - you don't need it at all! They have tours you can book right in the lobby of DC and they will pick you up right from the hotel lobby - very convenient. I highly recommend the night tour - it is spectacular! They also have a free trolley that will pick you up in the parking lot to take you downtown Alexandria with multiple stops. This is perfect for shopping and eating - Alexandria is a very nice town with lots of history. The hotel has a great complimentary breakfast each morning - has made to order omelets, meats, potatoes, fruits, etc....And the nightly reception is also very nice and FREE! The beds are very comfy and the rooms are nice and clean. I rate this 5 stars!!! Give it a try - you won't be sorry! (I'm a very picky traveler and it takes alot of impress me)!!!

Great place for the family

We were very happy with our stay - being right across the street from the metro was wonderful and the full hot breakfast buffet was a huge hit with the kids. The area felt safe as well - we walked to a few nearby restaurants and felt completely comfortable on the streets. There were enough other families staying at the hotel that made it a very comfortable place for families, however there seemed to be a great mix of adults/business as well. Our suite was very comfortable and quiet and everything worked great.

Ghostly Fife Music in 201

Stayed here with wife for three nights, Sept 17, 18, 19 2007. First night, was sleeping and thought I heard flute like music, sort of like that of a fife. Didn't think much of it and figured I was dreaming and it was just the noise of the air from the vents. Next night though, heard it again and just layed there and listened for a while. A song was being played. There was no one in another room or outside playing the music. Woke up about 3 or 4 times during night and heard the fife music. I'm a light sleeper so it was probably the cause of my waking up. Didn't say anything to wife because I thought it was my imagination or just dreaming or something. On third day, mentioned something to the wife and she said she had been hearing the same thing. Third night, like clockwork, the fife music started up. It usually starts going about 1 am and keeps going off and on till dawn. When I heard it on the last night, I nugged wife and said "Hey, did you hear that?". When I did nug her and talk to her, the music stopped in mid song. Pretty wild. First ghostly or whatever experience for me. If its a ghost, my guess is that there was some old colonial era building where the hotel is now and that will probably explain who is playing the fife.
