The rooms are better than most in the Disney area. It is an Disney affiliated hotel, not owned. Which means transportation stinks. Disney owned hotels go past Monorails and Boat and straight to the gates. Affiliated hotels go to Monorail area and you are lucky to even get a bus. This reason is due to the fact that the Palace is the 3rd in a hotel sweep. We waited 30 minutes to get told we had to wait for another bus due to the fact it was full. We took a cab it was 8 bucks and worth it at this point. The buses for affiliated picks you up in the un -sheltered centers of the parking lot. It may not seem like a big deal but think about being on your feet dealing with thousands of people in the Florida climate. The walls in the rooms are thin, we were across from the elevator (screaming kids and banging luggage through out the night) The hotel staff are friendly and the woman I met at the front desk was extremely helpful. The eateries in the hotel are 3 times the normal price of an average restaurant. A 12oz coke was over $3.50. It seems you stay hungry all the time on Disney trips due to the price of small portions of food. There was only ONE working coke machine on the floors and I believe that was floor 14. I went to every floor looking. The pools are good. The rooms are decently clean and they are stocked well. I should warn you about valet service. I saw numerous times a hop take someones car after they went in side and come out almost sideways at high speeds running stop signs. OVERALL this is a great deal for the price.
Do Not Listen to the Concierge But Lovely Time

Checked in on May 22nd, loved the stay but it was almost ruined by the concierge and the time share scheme. On our first night, we went to the concierge for info. about Downtown Disney activities that were sheltered because of the heavy rain and flooding Florida has been having. She told us we could get discounted ticket to the parks because another hotel was running a promotion and wanted to introduce people to their hotel. She said we would have to attend a talk where we would be fed and all we had to do was rate the facilities.BIG LIE. When we arrived it was a timeshare deal and the people we EXCEEDINGLY RUDE. It got to such a point that I had to tell the young lady that we would not tolerate her rudeness. We asked repeatedly to leave but were not allowed to leave the room we were in until they made us an offer. One which we refused. In an attempt to sway us, they brought in someone else and when we were adamant about not accepting this individual proceeded to insult my husband and myself.
I like Buena Vista but I detested greatly the scheme the concierge pulled on us. My husband and I never expected that the concierge would be part of this. As a word of caution, do not ask the concierge for help. Call the operator or ask the bus drivers. They are a lot more helpful and less deceitful.
As for the timeshare experience, it put a sour taste in our mouths and we are not sure we would return to that particular hotel, although it was an excellent hotel and we had a great time after we tried to put that experience behind us.
Great Alternative to Disney Hotels

I found the Buena Vista Palace as an alternative to spending $ a night at Disney. Basically put, I have few regrets and am glad I saved $+ for my 3 night stay. Below is a summary. Pros
- Modern decor both in the lobby and rooms. Reminded me of some posh and modern rooms I've stayed in NYC. Includes modern furniture, including an Aeron chair, light decor, even aeromatics pumped into the lobby.
- As close to "Disney" as possible without Disney prices. Hotel is across the (usually not too busy) street from Downtown Disney and the Saratoga Springs resort. You could take one of the Disney buses from Downtown Disney to one of the other resorts.
- Nice, clean hotel for a good (great?) price
Cons
- Sounds weird, but for such a nice place I couldn't figure out why the shower pressure was so low. I wouldn't say it was a trickle, but it wasn't like most (nice) hotel showers that put out strong pressure.
-Being off site from Disney. I admit, in the future I may forgo the savings just to stay on site. There's just something about the complete Disney experience you don't get by staying off site, even if its across the road.
- While the Buena Vista resort offers bus service to the parks every 30 minutes on the half hour and hour, it was unreliable, sometimes being 15 minutes late. On our last day we waited 45 minutes only to find the bus was "broken down". Disney buses are more plentiful and run much more often. Also consider that the Buena Vista buses also pickup people from other hotels.
Again, good hotel for the price as long as you don't mind being off site from Disney.

Yes, I would stay here again. Friendly staff, clean room, lovely hotel, and easily accessible to all attractions. The only negative remark would have to be about the Sport Bar and Restaurant. Its needs updating. Seemed run down.
