Great value for money but location is a concern

I spent 8 days in May 2009 (business trip) at Microtel Inn and Suites Atlanta-Buckhead. Great value for the money but this is in East Buckhead (huge difference!!). Did not feel safe as a single female traveller in the neighborhood. Single Queen non-smoking room was compact and clean. Toilet ran all the time - unresolved. Lack of parking and very narrow parking spaces resulted in another guest blocking me out of my rental car. Staff was gracious in resolving situation. Very good continental breakfasts included. In my online travel website search I required a guest laundry, but none at hotel.

Dirty room, poor air conditioning system, management unhelpful, Microtel Corporation unhelpful.
Extremely Poor Hotel, Stay Away

This property had the following discrepancies:
- dirty, bath floor had debri on it.
- bath towels stained.
- room and hallway carpet dirty/stained.
- TV remote did not work.
- excessive noise from hallway and room next door.
- slamming doors could be heard all night.
- got little sleep due to high noise level.
- property manager unconcerned with complaints.
- Microtel Corporation has been of little assistance with problems.
-Unacceptable BBB rating for failure to respond to complaints.
Good value for the room

We were just passing through Atlanta and needed a place to stay for the night. We had a coupon from the Georgia welcome center for this hotel. Our room was much more than we expected for the price. The location in a diverse area could be questionable for those uncomfortable in large cities but we never felt unsafe. There was plenty of security at the hotel and all rooms have interior entrances. We even walked out at night to get something to eat and had no trouble in the area. Our room was a great value. We had called two hotels a block away and they were charging twice as much as we paid. The staff was also very friendly and accomodating.
Great place in great location

I was very pleased with this hotel. I stayed almost an entire week, and the staff was very nice and helpful. The room was clean, and there was even a nice view of a wooded stream from the back windows. It is in a great location to get downtown without necessarily having to take the scary expressways everywhere, and I was surprised at the value considering it was in Buckhead. I highly recommend the place.
