The staff were helpful and polite, the room was clean and well-kept and the breakfast room is real plus. We had no idea in advance, however, that the hotel was replacing carpeting - our room had the new carpeting, but also had a strong odor of carpet adhesive... and the morning we checked out we were awakened by thumping and pounding - the carpetlayers were working in a room near ours. I've stayed at this location 3 times before, the first time it was Hampton Inn, subsequently it has been a Holiday Inn Express. It is nearby to a social event we regularly attend so we've tried to make a habit of staying there. Sadly, the neighborhood has gone downhill. Within 5 minutes we saw police investigating a break-in down the street and another pair of officers pulling a car full of young men over to the curb next to the hotel. In the covered parking area there was a man sitting on the ground drinking from a paper bag. None of this made me feel secure. There is another Holiday Inn Express about a mile south, also on El Camino Real. We had friends stay there who had a more pleasant stay. I hope the hotel management gets involved with the Chamber of Commerce and city government to improve the surrounding neighborhood. They have a good property - externals are impacting the experience.

Terrific Hotel

We arrived late for a whirlwind weekend getaway. The receptionist at the front desk was friendly and helpful. That attitude extended to all the staff we encountered. We found that not only was the location convenient to San Jose and San Francisco, shopping and dining were all within walking distance of the property. We booked a King Executive NS room. The room was large with a comfortable bed, plenty of pillows and very nice decor. The bathroom was spacious as well, though the towels weren't quite soft enough. It was sparkling clean and all the amenities were as advertised. Breakfast was far more than muffins, coffee and juice. And, the breakfast room was clean and sunny. It's my understanding that outdoor activities are quite close too, but we just didn't have time for everything. However, we'd love to get back to the area and we'll definitely stay at this hotel again.

Brief but pleasant stay

We arrived around 8:30PM, and checked out at 9:00AM the next day - brief stay. We had free covered, but unsecured parking, 2 queen beds, clean room, coffee in room, great included breakfast. Had access to TV and free internet. I'd stay there again.
