Family Vacation July 2007

  • July 29, 2007

We chose Bettoja Massimo d'Azeglio based on previous online travel website reviews and so knew what to expect. This is an older hotel than its "sister" hotel the Mediterrano across the street, but we wanted more of an old world experience. The rooms are spacious and pleasantly furnished, but there are three twin beds per room and they are fairly firm. Inner rooms are definitely more quiet than the outer rooms overlooking the street. Breakfast (which was included) was basic. They included complementary toiletries in the rooms and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. When we mentioned that we wanted a special dining experience, the desk clerk arranged reservations at the Mediterrano's rooftop restaurant for us-wonderful food and splendid view. The main appeal is that the hotel is only two blocks from the Metro station and within walking distance of many of the fountains and Colosseum.

"Despite Catwoman, all was fine"

All was well with this hotel. Location is convenient to some incredible cultural landmarks, although immediate area lacks ambience (near train station), and can feel dicey late at night. Clean and orderly, but beds may be firmer than you'd expect at a hotel. A particular front desk clerk is quite haughty and more than a bit sarcastic -- you will know her by her bemused reaction to your every request. Otherwise, the rest of the hotel personnel we encountered were thoroughly kind and professional.

Honeymoon

We were excited to stay here because of the reviews however, we were very dissapointed, active mold growth is the smell in the main lobby, the beds are like a thin piece of foam on plywood, the paint is pealing in many areas, and for Americans the breakfast is awfull with terrible coffee. I believe the employees must have wrote the previous reviews.although only a couple speak english.

Located 2 short blocks from main train terminal. Large room and bath with comfortable King size bed. REQUEST COURTYARD SIDE ROOM for quiet. The staff was very helpful and spoke excellent english. We walked the street and found many attractive resturanst and bars with excellent casual food. Even saw the Rome Chinatown. The lobby bar was a nice place to end an evening stroll. This hotel was a GREAT VALUE - clean, generously sized and convenient.

Perfect for Rome

My main goal of coming to Rome was to hit the street and metro and see as much as possible. This hotel was perfect in allowing me to do so. Right around the corner from both the metro and Termini which can take you throughout all of Italy, I recommend this hotel to travelers. Everything inside was cleany, fun, and satisfying as well. Beautiful!
