You will not find a better hotel for the money. Excellent breakfast in a lovely old dining room. The room was clean and comfortable-a tad small -- European style. Stay court side for a very quiet night's sleep. You can't beat the location. We spent ten nights and will stay here again.

A restful haven in bustling Rome

As first time travelers to Rome, we had to rely on the reviews about this hotel and others to make our selection. And we struck gold with this hotel. The staff are fantastic and go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. The hotel is beautiful and well-kept - but leave your ideas about American-style hotels at home. It's an old building with small halls and some oddly shaped rooms. But they are neat, clean and offer every other convenience you would expect in a fine hotel. The bathrooms are GORGEOUS - you are surrounded by marble and tile - and while the beds may not be what we are used to, they are well made with crisp, clean sheets and beautiful bed linens. You can walk to the Coliseum, the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain in just minutes - and you are only one block away from the main train station (Stazione Termini) in Rome. The neighborhood is safe and walkable. The breakfast room is a little cramped and crowded in the morning and the food choices may seem odd to American tastes, but it is a great way to kick-start your day. Avoid the hotel bar for cocktails - MUCH too expensive. You can get a bottle of wine at a local cafe for the price of a glass or two at the hotel bar. Overall - a great place to stay in Rome. We'll certainly be back.

Roman vacation

We picked this hotel based on previous reviews and location and were not disappointed. The location is excellent very close to the train/bus/metro station. We took the express train from the airport and walked the two blocks to the hotel. We bought a week Metro pass and this made going anywhere in Rome and a side trip to Florence very easy. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and large by European standards. The breakfast was generous. Our room was on the third floor and faced a street but we did not have a problem with noise. The hotel is old but we were looking for an "Italian" experience. There is a nice lobby with a bar if one wants to relax at the end of the day. There was a desktop computer with internet access in the lobey for a small price. The only complain was that the mattress was firm. We would definately stay there again.

Wonderful, comfortable, elegant stay

I stayed in a single room on the first floor - although it faced via Cavour, there were shutters to block out the light. The room was a reasonable size, so I could move around without bumping into the furniture. It was clean and attractive. The bathroom was also roomy and pleasant. I appreciated the full shower (instead of the half shower in other hotels). I really liked the thoughtful touch of a pull out clothes line so I could wash and dry some of my blouses. The staff was very helpful in providing extra towels as requested, showing me how the phone worked, etc. I needed to fax a form to another hotel (where I'd left something) and the front desk staff sent the fax out for me at no charge. There is internet access in a small room near the front desk for a reasonable per minute charge. The public rooms are charming and comfortable; the breakfast buffet was bountiful and the food excellent. The location is great -- basically a block from the Rome train station and hub for most of the bus systems. The train station is a good source for ATM machines, pharmacies, money exchange, so the hotel's location is quite convenient. I highly recommend this place and intend to stay there again when I visit Rome.

The hotel is very clean, modern and comfortable. Great location for Metro, buses and train, easy to access from Termini, only 1 block walk. Use train from airport FCO to termini. Complaints: the breakfast food was only OK. No ice in building, if you ask for ice it will cost you 2 Euro from room service. Would recommend and return.
