Check-in was a breeze. The staff was very kind and helpful. It was obvious that they were used to accommodating families with small children. The resort had tennis courts, a putt-putt golf course on-site, and an activities center that loaned out sand pails, shovels, tennis rackets, and balls. The activities center also held daily things for people to participate in, such as bingo, "build an ice cream Sunday," etc. It was a great experience.
They provided shuttle service to Disney, and we did spend 1 day at Disney, but next time we probably will save our money and just stay at the resort and do things there. You do need a rental car if you plan on doing more that going to Disney. There is a grocery store on-site, but you would need transportation to tote your purchases back to the resort.
Our accommodations were excellent. We had a spacious one-bedroom with a queen-size sleeper sofa, and for an additional fee, we rented a cot for our granddaughter. There was plenty of room. Our room had a balcony with a table and chairs so you could sit and enjoy the outdoors. We are from New York, so it was great to go where there wasn't any snow and you could actually go outside without a coat. We will definitely return to Summer Bay.
