WVA's Best Kept Secret

My husband and I stayed here through the travel agency. We received a sweet deal which includied buffet breakfasts for each of us, a real treat foodwise and also because the dining room has a lovely view of the Canaan Valley. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Staff were friendly and courteous. Atmosphere was enjoyable and relaxing. There are frequent deer sightings & it is not uncommon for deer to walk right up to the lodgings. Great photo-ops. There are pricey evening meals served in the dining room. But if all you want is a sub or pizza, that can be had as well in the on premises cafe. While we were there for motorcycle touring of the area, we noted acitivities for children, such as an outdoor movie and something similiar to a hayride through the area. This was not our first stay, but it had been many years since our last stay. We were not disappointed in anything about the resort.

My Husband and I wanted to getaway and ski for a couple of days. We found a rate of about $75/nght on online travel website including breakfast. We were just expecting a continental breakfast but it was a fantastic sit down full hot breakfast. That was a bonus for us as that would have added on another $25 per day. It loaded us up for a great day of skiing. The rooms are very basic and pretty old - definatetly in need of an update. But for $75 a night with a view of the ski resort we couldnt have asked for anything else. Dont expect lush beds and non fuzzy cable if thats what you like. I would only rate the rooms a 2 star but we had a great experience. It was a great getaway with the convenience of all the hotel services right there - but no Ritz Carlton. Lots of friendly locals - the deer I mean. They are all around the hotels! The staff were a little older and a little on the slower side but all very friendly.
