Nice Hotel

The hotel was very nice. A great location. Acouple blocks from English Bay Beach and Stanley Park. My kids loved the pool, used it everyday. The hotel only had one resturant for kids. It has a bar & grill that has pizza and a pasta bar, but kids are not allowed. There are a lot of resturants with in walking distant.

Beautiful view

I stayed in the King Suite - it was perfect for me & my family. There was a separate bedroom, living area & full kitchen. The view was breathtaking & quite frankly worth it alone. The area was very bustling with the beach 2 blocks away & lots of restaurants & dessert places within 5 minutes walk. We didn't eat anywhere but near our hotel & still didn't go to all the restaurants we wanted to. Our concierge was an awesome help, & gave great advice re places to see & eat. The cleaning staff were very good & because I had a baby & told them to come back in the morning, they just kept coming back til I was ready for them & they weren't rude or irritated by it. My hotel stay made the business trip easy - while I was away in sessions, my babysitter could take my son & be busy all day without any inconvenience, or stay in the hotel & have all the necessary amenities. Definitely the hotel made the trip for me!

slightly outdated, but clean and very comfortable

I read reviews of this hotel before we went and was a bit apprehensive. We paid for a "coast comfort" room, but ended up being upgraded to a king room/ suite. it's basically an apartment. the fridge and kitchen decor were aged and unstylish, but everything was clean and functional. the bathroom came with plenty of (large!!) towels, the bed was comfortable, and the living room had a nice couch, large TV and balcony. The front desk was helpful and nice. Bonus: they exchange money there, and the rate isn't bad--much better than the rate I got through travel website at home. this hotel is a high-rise building, so if you're a very light sleeper, you might want to request a room away from the elevators. they sound like a quiet train going by, which we found amusing, but if you have sleeping trouble it might be bothersome.

Disappointed

I usually stay at 3 star hotelsin Vancouver and am very satisfied. I diecided to treat myself to a 4 star hotel. I selected a hotel recommended by the travel agency and got a good price. I expected a room on a lower floor and without a view. I did not expect a room that was shabby and dirty. The pillows were flat and hard. I woke up with a headache. When I reached for a towel, long black hair fell out of it. The table and kitchenette counter was sticky and dirty. I will not use this hotel again.

Pictures Are Nothing Like the Real Thing

Usually when I'm choosing a hotel, I look at the pictures first. I want to see what the room's going to look like, and the general feel of the hotel will be. Now, I understand that they touch-up the pictures before posting them - that's basic marketing. However, they must have spent a fortune on PhotoShop costs because once I got there, there was very little about the pictures that was accurate. The hotel is in a bad area...I was told by the rental car agent who happened to live nearby to Valet because otherwise someone WILL break into the car. As a single woman traveling at odd hours, this was not comforting. Then, once I get there, everything is run down. The lobby was presentable, but shabby. The elevator and halls needed a new coat of paint and the carpet was threadbare. The room was quite large, but again, it just felt like it hadn't been touched up in years. As far as cleanliness, it wasn't filthy, but neither was it pristine. It just wasn't as clean as I would expect a hotel room to be. Especially one with such a high Travel agency rating. Plus, the towels were so cheap that they felt like sandpaper. At least the sheets were clean...although the bed was a nightmare...it was a box with springs and super uncomfortable. It could have been worse...but for what I was expecting and what I paid for, I would have been better at a Best Western. Normally, I would have complained and found another hotel, however, I was only in the room to sleep and shower, so I let it go. I would never stay here again, though, and highly advise to avoid it at all costs.
