Stayed here 4 nights. 1 blk from the Bay, spent every evening watching the sun go down a blk away at the bay beach. This is a wonderful location I will stay here again. Bathrooms are 1960's era but everything else was nice. no complaints

Best Western Sands by the Sea

Best Western Sands by the Sea, located on the west end, has a modest lobby. Upon checking in, ask for your Wifi access code for your laptop, and if you don't have a Wifi access card, the hotel will loan one to you during your stay. Local calls are free up to 29 minutes, or else a $2.50 charge applies. Access from the lobby elevator is by the hotel card or hotel staff. Ask for a room with a street view, which also is the ocean view. We originally booked with a view on the other side, one king-size bed, and a larger desk. We asked for a room change with two beds and street view, though the desk is considerably smaller. The street view at night also has a few people making noise late at night.

The room is quite comfortable. Our bed was on the soft side, with good support. We had a good first night's sleep. Our room has a mini coffeemaker, hair dryer, radio, and TV.

There is fitness and sauna room access by hotel card from 6am to 10pm, and the Laundromat is open from 6:30 to 10pm. Both are located on the first floor, or leave your laundry at the front desk with the form properly filled out and it will be returned to your room by 6pm. Ice machines are on odd-numbered floors and soda machines are on every floor. It is pet friendly, and there are a limited amount of small safety boxes at the front desk for a nominal fee. Check-out is noon. The hotel staff and new assistant are helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.

A 24-hour Mac's convenience store is up the block on the next corner on Davie Street and Bidwell should you need a late-night snack or something.

Cherckers Bar & Grill and Bay Side Lounge, 12pm to 2am, are both next door, or go down the corner on Denmon Street, which has a lot of ethnic restaurants to select from.
