Description: This Hilton is located in the Walt Disney World Resort and within steps of Downtown Disney (see my journal entry). The resort is situated on 23 acres, and has over 800 rooms and suites. The property is situated between scenic lakes and lots of fountains.
The lobby and common areas are lavishly nice, and the rooms are well-appointed. I lucked into an upgrade to an Alcove Junior Suite with access to their Concierge Level perks, including a private concierge, bathrobes, free breakfast each morning, light snacks all day, and hot Hors d'oeuvres and soft drinks each evening.
The suite (number 600) was very nice, well appointed, and very roomy. It has a large wardrobe with television, mini-bar, and storage. There is also a large desk with phone and a lamp that is functional for work. For relaxing, there is a large couch (pulls out to a bed if needed), coffee table and end tables, and a nice King size bed. In addition to the bathroom, there is a separate vanity and coffee maker that is handy.
Throughout the resort, there are 2 pools, at least 3 bars, and about 7 restaurants. They also have a Disney Store (that also has toiletries and other necessities). They have a corridor of conference/banquet rooms. There is a health club, and several golf courses nearby.
The Hilton's restaurants cover a wide range that has something for everyone. Most of the restaurants are grouped together like a market just off the hotel lobby. They have a Benihana's Steakhouse and Sushi Bar that is very popular; Finn's Grill has steaks and seafood in a Key West decor; Covington Mill Restaurant serves breakfast and lunch in a New England setting; Mainstreet Market is a 24 hour deli and ice-cream shop; and Mugs is a coffee shop and wine bar; Outside the Marketplace, there is the Rum Largo cafe and bar at poolside, and John T's Lounge is a sports bar with billiards just off the lobby. One night I had dinner at Finn's Grill and had awesome Lamb Chops with a huge salad.
After you have had a look around and enjoyed the property, there are a lot of things to see and to nearby, even without going to a theme park. The Downtown Disney entertainment area (see my journal entry) is only a 2 minute walk away, and there is a
free shuttle provided to it and all Disney theme parks and attractions. The Disney Theme Parks, Epcot Center, Sea World,
Animal Kingdom, Universal Studios, are located within 3-10 miles of the Hilton Resort.
Hilton in the Walt Disney World Resort is located within Walt Disney World at 1751 Hotel Plaza Boulevard. To get there from
Orlando International Airport, take 528 West to I-4. Take I-4 West and exit at Lake Buena Vista (exit 27) and turn right. At the first traffic light turn left at Hotel Plaza Boulevard, and the Hilton is about a half mile on the left.
