Best Things Nearby:
Disneyland

Best Things About the Resort:
Front desk staff, small kitchens in units, and complimentary breakfast.

Resort Experience:
This is a very pleasant resort. They have an on-site gift shop and a complimentary breakfast. The staff is very nice (except the front desk supervisor who was rude and unprofessional). The housekeeping was nice and the suites were tidy.

We had a one-bedroom unit that was fairly small, but adequate for our visit to Disneyland. It was well equipped and clean. Breakfast was provided every morning. It was very quiet and well maintained, with great mattresses and pillows.

A convenient shuttle bus picked us up every day in front of the hotel at 20-minute intervals.

Best Things Nearby:
Disneyland and Downtown Disney.

Best Things About the Resort:
Close to a lot of restaurants and stores.

Resort Experience:
I was not pleased with this resort. This was my first exchange with RCI and I felt that it wasn't any near the level I was promised or of the same caliber resort that I exchanged from. To me, it was more like a second-rate hotel room and not a suite. Then, I found out that they had "members only" suites which I was not offered.

The people were nice, the weather was great, but the accommodations were not up to par.

Stonefield Estate

  • November 4, 2002
  • Rated 4 of 5 by SA66 from Boston, Massachusetts
Stonefield Estate is a 27-acre property on a former cocoa plantation nestled right on the flank of the more visually striking Petit Piton. There are 12 villas, all of which afford a great deal of privacy and are furnished with beautiful hand crafted furniture or antiques. There are no TVs or phones to distract you from the spectacular surroundings.

We stayed in the Oleander Villa, which is one of 4 newer villas built below the Mango Tree restaurant and pool terrace. From the moment we stepped through the gate and onto our large porch I knew we had picked the right spot. The view from your porch is breathtaking! Straight ahead is Petit Piton, so sharp and steep it makes you wonder how it came to be (and how anyone could possibly climb it). Looking toward the right is a sharp drop down to the beautiful azure Caribbean Sea, with sailboats dotted along the horizon as they position to get a closer view of the magnificent Pitons.

Our villa at Stonefield was very spacious with a high ceiling and open-air design that allowed the steady cooling breezes to drift through and eliminate the need for air-conditioning. There was a living room-dining area with a full kitchen, a bedroom with a king size four poster bed, and a large bathroom with a doorway leading out to a beautiful garden shower. All windows and dividing walls between the rooms are made of jalousie blinds (wooden slats), which can be left open or closed to afford more privacy.

We truly enjoyed our time at Stonefield Estate and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in the beautiful and majestic southern area of St. Lucia, away from the more touristed resort area. Before deciding on Stonefield, we had also considered the Jalousie Hilton and Ladera. We visited both these properties and would recommend them both, but we were extremely happy we chose Stonefield. This was perfect spot for us: more intimate and local than the Jalousie Hilton, and more private, spacious, and casual than Ladera. Stonefield is also an especially good value, and the staff is extremely friendly and accommodative. Highly recommended!

Best Things Nearby:
Disneyland, Benihana, Knotts Berry Farm, Universal Studios, and we even took a day trip to San Diego Zoo.

Best Things About the Resort:
It is large, has a nice outdoor pool, the room has both a microwave and refrigerator which are not the norm close to Disneyland.

Resort Experience:
We stayed at the Peacock Inn, and it was very nice. The pool area was a little too close to the parking but it had very nice landscaping and a beach scene painted on the walls to get a better feeling while spending time there. They had very spacious rooms but as it is a hotel there was no kitchen which would have been very useful. When we got back from the park in the evening it would have been good to have dinner in the room without ordering take out but at least there was a refrigerator and microwave. This is much more than the room in the Grand Californian which didn't have either.

It is a far distance from any parks but has a shuttle bus that is very easy to utilize. The bus pick-up and drop off could have been located closer to the entrance as it was the last one in the line-up, but it wasn't that far and the drivers were extremely pleasant.

The rooms are very nice but not as nice as are condo in Mexico, (club Regina), so we felt a little like we had made a poor exchange. Unfortunately, the location simply does not have better accommodations. We have since stayed in the Disneyland Hotel and the Grand Californian Hotel and neither had as large of a room as the Peacock Suites, and neither had a kitchen, or microwave.
