Decent Value For The Money

Decent value for the money. Conveniently located off I-17, yet we couldn't hear any highway traffic from our room. The neighborhood (North Phoenix) felt safer than, say, the downtown Phoenix area. Room was clean, and the laminate flooring and red walls in the bathroom were a nice touch. We also liked having an elevator to reach the upper floors, and we appreciated the fact that the pool was up and running, even though it was only March. Only negative was that they provide only basic complimentary supplies, so bring your own toiletries. Also, while there are casual dining restaurants and a supermarket within walking distance, your fast-food options are pretty limited off this exit...so if arriving hungry and looking for a drive-through pick-up...we suggest first pulling off at an earlier exit to buy your meal...before hopping back onto the freeway for this hotel's exit.

Mattress was Wonderful

No, the hotel did not meet our standards. Kleenex and an exhaust fan should be mandatory. So should a microwave that works correctly and opens easily. Also it would be great to shower without standing in dirty water. The bathroom sink should drain after being used. The hotel should not charge for Internet access to the business rooms. The fridge should have all its internal parts so that our food would stay in the fridge when opened and not fly out onto the carpet. The only window in our room would not open. I guess we expect more from a Hotel...

very clean and comfortable but with no amenities. Be prepared for that and you'll save some $. Safe and good neighborhood too!

A diamond in the rough

I had the opportunity to stay at this Red Roof Inn for 8 days which is located in Union Hills. The location was perfect for me. Located right off interstate 17. The room was clean and well maintained. The pool is open all year and when I visited in January it was at 90 degrees. I was in the pool every day. I was a bit skeptical of what area of town I was staying in because I got such a low room rate of $**. a night. I stayed at this location alone and I never once felt afraid. I picked this location because you must enter thru the lobby then go to your room. When traveling alone I prefer to stay at hotel / motels that you go to your room via the lobby instead of the outdoor hallways. The lobby has free 24 hr latte / mocha / regular coffee machine and a microwave oven. I got a $3.00 foam cooler at Wal-Mart to keep drinks cold in the room. There isn't a continental breakfast so get some instant oatmeal?s or something from Wal-Mart or fry's The only downside I found is there is no in room fridge and there isn't an onsite laundry room so I took my clothes up to 35th and bell to the Laundromat. It is approx 1-2 miles away. Wal-Mart is about 3 miles up the street and there are plenty of places to eat and shop in the area. There is a small strip mall located right next door which has a $2.00 movie theatre and a great sports bar named Santucci bar and grill (forgive me if the spelling is in correct) They really have great food. The grocery store is basically across the street.
