Not at all what we were expecting

When we checked in, we were given an upgrade to a larger room by the very attentive front desk staff. That is where the good stopped with our stay at this hotel. We were on the 8th floor overlooking Adams St and were at first pleased with the room. Then, the first Elevated Train came by. It was so loud that the only way to drown it out was to turn the fan on high. We then went into the bathroom where we found a used eyelash curler laying on the floor under the sink. In the room, we were surprised at the relatively old, non-HD TV with a remote that barely worked. What really made me upset though was the $31.70 mini bar charge that appeared on my checking account statement later that week. At no point did we use anything from the mini bar. Overall, a terrible stay at a terrible property.

I was extremely disappointed with both the room and the service at the hotel. When I arrived, I was offered an "upgrade" to a king room (I requested a king) but it was a smoking room. I declined and was given what was essentially a converted storage closet. The room was so crammed you had to walk sideways to get past the bed to the dresser, and the ceiling was a drop ceiling about 8' high. Since this room was clearly unacceptable (especially since I didn't get much if anything of a bargain on rates) I decided to take the "upgrade" to the smoking room. The room was fine, but the AC was so loud I decided to sleep with the windows open instead (it was a cool night). That was fine except for the EL which ran past every few minutes. Even my coworkers who kept the windows closed complained. Now we get to service. My flight was delayed and I arrived at the hotel about 10 PM. The restaurant stops seating guests at 10 PM so I was relegated to the bar for appetizers. Some coworkers stopped by a short while later and tried to order, but they stop serving that food at 11 (it was exactly 11 and nobody wanted to go out of their way to take some hummus out of the fridge). Come 11:45 it was last call. There was a large party next to us, and they realized they were one drink short and tried ordering another at 11:46 only to be flatly rejected. I've stayed at many W's and this was by far the worst. Not sure how they get away with it.

This hotel looks good at 1st sight, but it is not what it appears to be. The sheets were smelly as if a construction worker had just slept on them after getting off work!!! We asked for 2 rooms and they gave us one on one floor and another 5 floors up. We used an on line booking and was told that we may or may not get the rooms. They would not allow us to check in early( check in is at 3pm) and we were supposedly guarenteed check in then, we checked in at nearly 5pm. Compensation for all of this shabby treatment? Four drinks at the bar!! Never again W.
