the location was wonderful and the premisis was clean but i was not totally impressed with the cleanliness and the rooms were quite small. what was the shocker was when we checked out and found out that they charge you a good chunk for parking. a good learning experience.

Nice place, but not quite as pictured

The Dana on Mission Bay is a great location, nestled next to Sea World and right in between downtown San Diego and La Jolla, it is a great location to do lots of different activities in and around San Diego. Our room looked newly remodeled with a spacious bathroom and large, comfortable king size bed. Our only complaint about the room would have been why did they give us just three pillows (it seems 4 would have been more appropriate for the bed). And our only compliant about the hotel is that the picture is deceiving and I am not sure if the three story building shown on the corner of the bay is even part of the hotel. We stayed in a much smaller two story building that is actually located behind the building shown in the pictures. Our marina view room looked out to the marina (east) for a beautiful view of the boats. Parking for the many two story buildings that make up the hotel is ample and convenient for the rooms. There are also two restaurants and two (heated) pools to serve the many different buildings that make up this hotel.

Great family hotel , can relax in private .

I at first was a little put of by the rooms a cigarette burn on my quilt, but in saying that the house keeping staff kept the room really nice and was nice and clean when you return from our day of sightseeing .The front desk staff was great in giving directions and suggesting places, so all and all this was a very nice place to stay with your family the could upgrade the quilts but hi if thats all its not a bad thing. Fridge in the room was freat and a microwave so for having a three year old that was great.

Truly the worst hotel experience of my life

I've traveled the world and the US extensively. Never before have I experienced a staff so inexperienced (which is ok) but with management so fcused on stopping fun and anybody smoking as their most important goal for the good of the hotel. This is clearly a hotel with no class that has a few internal political challenges that they will cast upon you to make your stay nothing more than a boarding house experience. In a nutshell, bad management, bad management, bad management. If you are an inexperienced traveller then you may end up here. If you enjoy a leisurely vacation where the "warden" isn't watching, then go any place but this place. I mistakedly held a business meeting here and the guests were treated as criminals for smoking by an ashtray by the manager on duty. Then even after discussion with a senior manager the same treatment ensued the next day. Laughter and conversation are discouraged. Only somber faces. Not a vacation nor relaxing atmosphere. Stay nearby at any hotel unless you just want to be disappointed. This is not an upscale hotel but worse yet, they think they are. Campus is heavily secure with gates that don't work, parking restrictions which prevent guests from getting to their room, locked restrooms where keys don't work., restrictions on watersports that prevent you from renting and enjoying. This is clearly a resort on their way down, so if you stay here, expect nothing. This is my first review ever on a hotel, and I'm only doing it because there was so much negative energy that I would wish that nobody ever had to experience such a thing when you only want to escape and relax. Funny, I live in San Diego, and am ashamed that this place is here.

Had to move rooms 4 times

This is my first review of a hotel ever. I'll try to be fair but my experience promtpted me to write this. Service: Service is terrible. They are either very inexperienced or just bad. Front desk is worst ever. I tried three different people over 2 days...all bad. Concierge was helpful. Restaurant was inconsistent but food was good. Rooms: MUST READ - There are two completely different sections. The old section and new section. New rooms are more money but the old rooms are a joke. They are dirty, dark, small, smelly. Really a motel6 at best. You must avoid these rooms. It's like living in a box. There are a few rooms that don't overlook a parking lot, but even the marina view rooms are overlooking the parking lot first. New rooms are better, not great but much better. However it cost me another $100 to upgrade to one that wasn't next to the ice machine (it overlooked the highway and some grass so it was called a "park view") Location: Good location but the "resort feel" is far from it and the view is nothing spectacular. This place is good for people with low expectations and are just happy to be close to seaworld. It's just not worth the money to me. If you decide to go, please go with low expectations, you'll feel better when you get there.
