I love classic old hotels which have been refurbished to keep the classic aspect and also improve the quality. This 1923 gem is one of them. The rooms are reasonable size and well laid out with modern bath fixtures etc. The restaurants are not the food for the sake of food type but the real thing. The dinner restaurant - forgot the name Varra? something like that - gets 4 stars from my wife and I - unique dishes and, in our case, a well informed waiter.

The staff at check-in was confrontational, argueing that I didn't have a non-smoking room. Actually asked me to prove it, once I did, they moved me to a non-smoking room. The hi-speed interent was broken in my room. The room was never clean until after 3pm...all around poor experience.
