An excellent package rate for a four night stay allowed us to stay at this historic hotel. The building and recent renovations are in beautiful detail. The bed was very comfortable and room quiet. The staff was excellent. When I notified the staff that the light bulb was burned out and cord for laptop needed replaced, it was done that day. Great location to Northwestern and its many activities. Would return again.

Our room was frigid upon arrival, heat is supplied by a VERY noisy window unit which was off until we arrived. Couldn't hear the TV over the heating unit. Tried to sleep with the unit off due to the noise factor, but when off the sounds of other guests moving about was too obvious. Bed was comfortable, room size adequate, only one small window (with window unit taking up the lower half), with shutters useless for blocking out early morning light.
The two small elevators were extremely slow, we had to wait up to 8 minutes to ride only three floors.
The only time my car was out of my sight was through the valet service at the Orrington, after return home I noticed a scratch immediately behind the front wheel well. I am certain it was not there before this trip.
Left feeling very dissatisfied and unhappy.
Small noisy rooms

The small rooms feature a very noisy air conditioner going on and off all night, making sleep difficult. There are no curtains (only wood shades) so at 5:00 AM the room was too bright for sleeping. A very unpleasant experience for the price. Not sure how they received 4 stars, more like 2 stars.

The style of the rooms is really great. The location is excellent, there is a lot of shopping and the train is a short walk away as is the lake. The food in the restaurant was out of this world!

Valet told me parking was included. Found out it's $20/day. No dressers in room. Poor room service. Overcharged me then added $30 gratuity after 18% already included. Room fridge broken.
