The Palmer House Hilton was a great place to stay, conveniently located a few blocks from Michigan Avenue and a block and a half from the blue line from O'Hare. It is a beautiful, elegant, meticulously clean hotel. The rooms were recently remodeled. Our group rented 3 rooms which varied in size and window views. All were very clean. The staff was very friendly and considerate.

I lived in Chicago for 10 years and always passed this hotel on my way to everywhere when in the city. I returned for my annual Taste of Chicago visit and decided to stay here, and will never stay anywhere else when visiting downtown Chicago. It is close to the Taste, shopping on State Street and Michigan Avenue, museum, short cab ride to Navy Pier. I am rebooking right now for my visit this summer.
Palmer House-great location if you like noise

The hotel is BEAUTIFUL. Perfect place if you want to have a wedding. But I didn't believe all the reviews that said there was a lot of noise, jackhammering etc in the AM. Well, at 6am it started and the constant jackhammering never stopped. Bed was not very confortable-not up to par with Hilton standards. The bed seemed old and overused. Hotel is a historic landmark, so for that it was absolutely gorgeous. Parking was a joke-cost $38 to valet park since it was too hard to find the self-park for $30. Great security when we came in late at night-needed to show your key. But for the price, it was a good place to stay (I paid $99). VERY close to everything.
