Hilton quality, expensive parking

The room was clean, with understated decor, and a wonderful view even though there is no balcony. The desk personnel were helpful, the valets were courteous, and the food from the onsite restaraunt was excellent. My only issue was the parking. The hotel is built on a parking garage, but the hotel does not run the parking garage, so the parking fees can add up quickly. Parking overnight will set you back an additional $25 and you have to pay everytime you leave the parking garage. The direct access to the hotel from the self parking requires driving up several levels to get to the ballroom floor entry, this is time consuming and confusing for first time users. There is the option to use the Valet parking service, which is $28 a day and allows you to remove your car as often as you like without addiitonal charges. Recommend the hotel, hate the parking situation.

When I read other reviews before staying at this hotel I got the impression it would be terrible. Since I was on a very tight budget I decided to give it a try and glad I did! The room was wonderful and very spacious. As others have said the parking is pricey and that's how they make up for the price of the room being so cheap. You do not have to eat there if you don't want, there is a Checkers right across the street. I did not feel the area was unsafe or was in a sleazy part of town. All of Miami's downtown area is being built up so there's a lot of construction going on. I had a concern about my keys not working and my room happened to be next to the fire exit/stairs. Remembering what I read here and once calling the desk about the keys not working, the head of security was sent to my room and he offered to take the keys to have them re-programmed I refused to let him take them especially after thinking about what I read here. He then explained that the person at the desk would have to go in the back from the front desk to slide them through another card machine when I took them. When I left the room I kept the tv on and decided I would later have the keys re-programmed with the next front desk shift. No problem after I done that. Something else I didn't like, you had to go up a few floors to get to the lobby and the ground entrance was where the ballroom was located, so you have to use 2 elevator banks upon arriving with all your luggage to check-in. Overall I would stay again.

This place was fine

I booked on travelagent and was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews however I had absolutely no problems the two nights I stayed. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, I felt safe - I don't require more. You should know that the restaurant at the hotel is expensive and the only walking options are B.K. and Checkers. Valet parking was $*/night which seems steep but the valets were courteous and responsive. The only free internet was wireless in the lobby; internet in the room was available for a charge.

BEWARE hotel staff CRIMINALS

Spread the word: Me and my family checked into this hotel last Friday at 1130. We were issued two keys to our room upon checking in, and went straight to our room for a much needed nap. One of the keys didn't work at all....NOTHING UNUSUAL right? Those credit card key things quit working all the time and I never think anything of it. But the other key worked just fine so we entered our room and went about the buisness of taking a much needed nap? About an hour and a half after being in our room I was awakened by someone sticking a key into our door and trying to push it open. Thank God I had the door chained because they would've walked right in on us. I immediately ran to the door and threw it open to find absolutely nobody standing in the long hallway. Well when this person realized somebody was inside the room they immediately fled down the fire escape stairs located right next to our door (in one of the junior suites). So I reported all this to the hotel manager and security. But something wasn't sitting right with me. The housekeeper denied being anywhere near our room, so I asked security to pull the records of who had used any card keys to try to come into our room. The report showed that we were issued 2 keys, and showed where we used the key to get into the room at 1135 am. But this report also showed that I had used one of my keys to enter the room just after 100 pm. Hmmmm how the hell can I do that when I'm inside my room sleeping? So I had the security guy scan both the keys I was issued when we checked in and guess what??? One key was my room key and the other was a blank key. So by slight of hand I was given one good key and one bogus key when checking in. And less than 2 hours later someone tried to break into my room using one of my "stolen" keys. That means the front desk clerk is a crook, because these keys don't have room numbers on them. That eliminates this whole event being a random act. I called the police to file a report the next morning. When the cops showed up I finally got the attention of the security manager. According the the cop no crime was committed since they didn't actually enter my room. Be VERY weary of staying in this hotel people. Not only is this downtown area not safe, the hotel is not secure, and the hotel's biggest threat to its customers is it's employees.

I loved the view from this hotel!

I loved the view from this hotel, ou can see the entire city as well as the bay area from your room. The roof-top pool was very nice too. Parking is expensive.
