Great place. Perfect location in downtown denver with everything in walking distance. Bars, restaraunts, pubs, shopping and the rail station that will take you all over denver for a low price. Only minutes away from mile high and walking distance from coors field. Definetly going back. Nice historica hotel with lots of class.

We blew into town after a week-long stay in Vail—four young women who were tired from skiing and enjoying Vail's nightlife, yet excited to continue their journey to Denver before returning home to NYC. We arrived in Denver around 8pm on a Sunday night with no idea where we'd be spending the night. After finding our way to the LoDo section of the city, I spotted The Oxford Hotel out of the corner of my eye, and something inside of me said, "THIS is the place." We parked the Jeep and went in inquire about a room, and low and behold, they had a large one with two queen-size beds for $159 for the night. What a steal! The lobby was absolutely breathtaking, with rich colors, dark wood, and antique furniture—and a wonderful little yellow canary that sweetly sings to you while you check in. The hotel is grand and historic, but without the stuffiness of some hotels. Everyone was SO nice and made us feel welcome and right at home from the get-go. The Oxford is on the National Register of Historic Places and apparently has been part of the city since 1891! The room itself was stunning—absolutely perfect! It had all the amenities and then some... flat-screen TV, etc. We wanted to move in permanently. The room, plus the hallways, have European antiques. It doesn't feel like a hotel, but a palace. It's an exquisite home. Downstairs attached to the hotel you will find McCormick’s Fish House, which is one of Denver’s best seafood restaurants. The hotel is right by Union Station and close to Coors Field and the 16th Street Mall, so you can walk everywhere! They valet your car as well, so you don't have to stress over street parking. This hotel is quite simply fabulous. I highly recommend it for a romantic weekend getaway!

Take it from a former local, the best hotel in Denver is The Oxford. I took my wife to The Oxford for her 21st birthday weekend and they made us feel like we were high rollers! I have never forgotten that and always return here! I love this place.

The rooms are all decorated differently with antiques from different eras. Each room has its own attitude and view. Most rooms have a view of 17th St. or of Wynkoop St. (There are "interior rooms" that have no view and may not even have windows.) There are some rooms with these huge soaking tubs that I highly recommend. No matter what room you get, you will be happy.

McCormicks Seafood is also attached to the hotel. (President Clinton loved McCormicks.) I have written a review of McCormicks, but suffice it to say that there is no better seafood in Denver and no better brunch either.

I used to go back at least once a month to the Cruise Room, which is a cool former speakeasy also attached to the hotel. They have awesome drinks and a great staff. Say "Hi!" to Jennifer in the Cruise Room and Dex as he valets your car at the Oxford! This entire building needs no help charming you, but the staff also kicks @ss and will go above and beyond your expectations.

The Oxford is an older downtown property that has been beautifully renovated. It is not luxurious but well done and interesting. It has character and feel that new hotels just don't have. Originally built in 1891.

We booked a nice room online with hotels.com and felt for the location that we got an excellent value. The hotel is near Union Station and is within walking distance of everything downtown. The service was helpful and friendly, and the room was nicely done in antique fashion.

There is an interesting deco bar/restaurant, and a great lobby with a big fireplace that welcomes you as you arrive.

Check out their website here.

The Oxford, first opened in 1891, is Denver's oldest grand hotel and is located in the trendy LoDo area near Union Station. The hotel was renovated and reopened in 1983 and today is one of the most fashionable small hotels in Denver. The lobby is elegantly appointed and all of the rooms are tastefully decorated with dark wood furniture. The hotel has a great lobby bar and a restaurant on premises. Around the corner is the Tattered Cover bookstore and the Wynkoop Brewery, and dozens of restaurants. There is a full service fitness club and spa just steps away.
