Sedona Vacation Club/Los Abrigados

Best Things Nearby:
Telaquepaque is right next door. The red rocks are outside your door, and the scenery is everywhere! There is Oak Creek Canyon-Slide Roack for staying cool and wet and a rodeo for excitement. There are also Indian archeological spots, volcanoes, and a meteor crater.

Best Things About the Resort:
The atmosphere and architecture are gorgeous. The staff was concerned and organized. LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION!

Resort Experience:
Los Abrigados is a magical and serene spot for us, and we travel quite a lot in the USA. This is our second stay, and it is during an opposite time of the year than before; summer and winter are both knockdown gorgeous here!!!

The resort setting has about 20 acres of wonderful Southwestern architecture. Relax by the creek and feed the ducks, play tennis on great courts, swim in a nice atmosphere (children have a separate pool), have a drink on the veranda (they should extend those food/drink hours), or get spoiled at the extensive spa on site. Stroll across the parking lot and explore the Talaquepacque shopping (upscale shops in a wonderful setting that are named after an old Mexican town). This timeshare's atmosphere just can't be beat! The one-bedroom unit (Jerome model) is my only minor complaint, as it needs more of a kitchen area and updating, but they are working on improving that. It was not a large unit, great two people and okay for three, but we were hardly ever there!

The following is a warning for bug-haters! In June there are bugs that resemble cockroaches EVERYWHERE. They are all around Sedona and come out in the evening. They are harmless, but annoying.

But I would live there if I could . . .

The Grand Canyon, two hours north, is a must-see! Verde Canyon Railway is a must-do. Native Indian ruins within 30 minutes. Two great golf courses 10 minutes away.

Best Things About the Resort:
The suite is spacious and very well maintained. The staff is outstanding and willing to make your stay memorable. Three restaurants on the premises.

Resort Experience:
As you drive into Sedona, the red rocks of the canyon walls welcome you to an area of beauty and quiet. You have an opportunity to refresh yourself from the stress of daily life.

Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village Oak Creek

Best Things About the Resort:
Scenery. Great restaurants on site and variety of activities.

Resort Experience:
Unlike many of the other resorts in Sedona, Los Abrigados has been around for quite a while and has well established landscaping that adds much to the atmosphere. The two story Spanish architecture buildings that weave through the property along with fountains, ponds, sculptures provide beautiful and relaxing scenery. The red rocks in Sedona add to the impressive views.

The many restaurants on site, great property, nearby Tlaquepaque, the wonderful spa and expansive front lobby are some of the things that make this a great resort. The rooms themselves are much less impressive – that is unless you are lucky enough to stay in one of the two bedroom penthouses! We own a one bedroom Jerome suite. The rooms are adequate – comfortable, clean and a bit dark. The resort is currently renovating the rooms to bring in more light and add full kitchens. During our stay this July we still had the kitchenette with a small refrigerator and microwave. This meets our needs as we generally only have breakfast in the room and pack lunches when we go for hikes and then out to dinner at the many fabulous restaurants on site and in town.

Be sure to check out the specials that the restaurants on site have for guests - Holy Cow Night, Lotsa Pasta, San Carlos Fiesta night. A great way to try the food, get a feel for the restaurant at a good price. Then come back other times to enjoy your choice of the menu at these upscale restaurants.

We enjoyed the wine tasting class held on a Thursday evening. Great way to meet others staying at the resort and learn some new information about wine.

Best Things Nearby:
Red Rock State Park, The Grand Canyon, on the way to Flagstaff a stop at Walnut Creek Canyon, home of the Singua people until the 1300'2. The Singua people lived cliff dwellings accessible by a 185-foot descent on a limited stepped trail about a mile long. The cliff dwellings are amazing. A strip to Flagstaff to the Arizona Snowbowl to ride the Agassi ski lift to the top at 11,500 feet with views of the Grand Canyon and the San Francisco Peaks. A horse ride, jeep ride and dinner with the cowboys at Bradshaw Ranch is a must.

Best Things About the Resort:
Great pools; nice facility, although with a limited kitchen to encourage restaurant use.

Resort Experience:
The resort is a well kept with great amenities, pools, restaurants, family rooms, and very nice apartments. The surrounding area has many great places to visit.

Best Things Nearby:
The shopping and artisan village, Tlaquepaque, is within walking distance. Pink Jeep tours is a lot of fun and a great adventure. Slide Rock State Park is unique and known for its natural water slide down the rocks of the creek. It can be a little steep walking, but is great for seasoned hikers. Airport road at sunset is hard to beat for breathtaking views and pictures. It is fun to explore all areas of this little town with unique dining and shopping.

Best Things About the Resort:
The view!! The beautiful red rock of the mountainous terrain is by far the one of the best adventures we have had. The pools and spa offer another aspect to this exceptional resort.

Resort Experience:
Amidst the canyons of Sedona, this resort offers a park-like setting with water fountains hidden at every corner. It is a real adventure just exploring the grounds of this beautiful resort.

The spacious one-bedroom unit has a king-size bed or two double beds in the bedroom with a pull-out sleeper sofa in the living area. The bathroom was nice and the resort supplied you with products from their spa (which I still order products from). The unit has a living room/dining room combination, patio or balcony and wet bar area with microwave and mini refrigerator. The unit was clean and well maintained. The patio or balcony either has a view of the breathtaking red rocks or a view of a beautiful courtyard almost always having some type of water feature. There are coin laundries located in each building.

There are two pools at this resort; one is more geared for children with activities just for them. The other pool is located off of the lobby and spa and is more geared for adults. There is a full service spa and bar area. Three restaurants are located on the property, with a variety of cuisine. There is also miniature golf at this resort.

This was a great change from the usual beach vacation, and we actually purchased a week at this resort just so we could return. If relaxation is on your list, you can definitely put this resort on your must-do list.
