Impossible to find hotel even with NAV

I stayed for 3 nights in October 2008 on business.
Pros: Very clean, well lit room with desk, free parking, free internet connection to room, clean well functioning bathroom, comfortable and firm bed, plentiful and clean linens, hotel premises and parking appear safe and secure from criminal elements, room is relatively quiet, housekeeping in mornings is not too aggressive or intrusive.
Cons: Impossible to find hotel even with navigation system. There are two roads, both labeled Spring Street/1&9 expressway separated by a curb. If you're on expressway side of curb (like me), Nav will tell you "you've arrived" but there is no way to get to hotel and you will circle the spaghetti-like expressways and back roads of Elizabeth round and round. Hotel is on Spring Street per Nav and online travel website, but is actually on a frontage road labeled by a single, teeny, tiny sign "service road" that is impossible to see from a moving car. Surrounding Elizabeth area by hotel I would describe as very impoverished, industrial, abandoned-warehouse, combat zone. No restaurant at hotel so no room service. In room fridge is empty. If you arrive late, you will eat vending maching food, or order room delivery by a local restaurant if they are still open. Vending machine bottled water is $2 or you could risk drinking chemical-laden NJ tap water. Free breakfast is juice, coffee, fruit, milk/cereal, bagels, muffins; a rubber-like microwave breakfast pizza is only hot food.
Convenient to airport

We stayed here one night and didn't realize it would be such a trip into NYC. It's convenient if you're flying in and out, but can add up if you need to go to to NYC. Not a lot of restaurants nearby, but staff was very nice and helpful and the shuttle operated every 30 minutes to the airport where you could eat or catch a train elsewhere. We had to meet folks in Jersey City for dinner and that was a chore, so had we known that we would end up taking three trains, we likely would not have stayed there the first night. But it worked out, and we would definitely stay there again if we're flying out. It's convenient, though I'm not sure I could find this if I were driving since Jersey is just confusing!

Not for personal stay

This facility caters to airline crews and people looking for a place near the airport to eat and drink. When staying there with a rental car, we were charged for all times we left the hotel and returned after visiting family in the area. A charge of $* dollars a day to park for hotel patrons and no charge for those using the restaurant and bar does not make for good relations. We stayed there because it was near the airport and we had a very early flight out. The restaurant is only open for lunch and dinner, so if you want breakfast, you can buy it from an overpriced snack bar and stand in the lobby to eat. There was no wireless internet in the room, and even though we were told everyone was complaining, nothing was done. Even if we ever need a place by the airport, we will stay somewhere else.

I have stayed at other Holiday Inn's with satisfaction for the value but this hotel needs an overhaul. The toilet didn't flush properly, the window on 9th floor had a huge 3 ft crack, the window had finger and face prints all over it, the remote for the tv didn't work, the room smelled like disinfectant can had been emptied throughout the room, and when I called to change rooms at 10pm, 11pm and 1AM no one answered at the front desk.
The positive was that their shuttle service and wifi was great.
