Front Desk

The people at the front desk were extremely impolite. They had problems with the reservation and became impatient. They showed an uncooperative and unkind behavior. Moreover, we thought that we will not be able to stay there. After waiting 30 minutes they finally solved the problem and we were able to see the first smile from them. Nevertheless, during previous thirty minutes we felt as we were begging for a room that we had already paid for. It seems strange that in a four star hotel you have to wait to be checked in to be properly treated.

Our room had a spectacular view looking straight up Central Park. The room, big by New York standards, was clean, well appointed and very comfortable. The bed was 4 star, the bathroom was very clean and the room came with all the essentials. The room price is reasonable but buying anything else at the hotel is very expensive. The hotel staff prides themselves on being friendly, attentive and very helpful. There were exactly that and we would not hesitate to stay here again.

"The service was great, but the room looked super depressing - everything painted gray and with a cold feel and neither here nor there style. Not modern yet using weird peices of it. Also the windows were so dirty. It wasn't a place I wanted to spend any time in. I think that they are trying to upgrade the hotel but doing so in this half style way, mixing modern with very old school in an ugly way. Stay what you are. Painting everything grey does work at all with classic furtniture is just odd and unpleasant. I felt like I was in makeshift basement. "

Nice room overlooking park. Furniture getting a little frayed. Great bath robes. No pens, note pads in room, tough houseman wouldn't let us take any from desk in hall. Hair dryer didn't work, was replaced. Price high, very much so for internet access. Concierge very helpful. Bar very pleasant. Water turned off one day - price unchanged, of course.
