Great Location for Walking Capitol Area

Wonderful hotel front desk staff made good on a mix-up of accommodations because Travel website reservation pages did not indicate classic room was for just 1 double bed that wouldn't work for us 2 guests. Room size and comfort were good for a vintage hotel. A decent value considering location with pricey neighboring hotel properties. Rooftop food quality and service okay, and the view of the Washington Monument is unbeatable. Great location for walking to the White House - can't get much closer. .

This place was horrible! I had to go to DC on business and booked my stay through travel agent. When I arrived, the staff at Hotel Washington said they did not have my reservation (despite my travel agent receipt and confirmation number). Then, they asked for my Visa. I specifically said: 'this is only for incidentals right because I already paid for this on another card.' They assured me it was only for incidentals. However, they charged my Visa for the room and have been terribly rude as I've been trying to get my $* back. Like 1 in 8 people in DC, I too am an attorney. I do not want to arrive late at night from the airport only to discover that this hotel cannot communicate with travel agent. I do not have time to call these people daily to get my money back and refuting this charge on my Visa is just annoying. Basically, I have dealt with this stuff with hotels in Mexico and expect it, but nobody needs to deal with this while on business in DC.
Worth the location--but!

Room was tiny and we are not large people! Previous occupant's laundry was left in bureau drawers. Parking was available across the street for $* per day and we were advised to use Hotel Wahington's parking to the tune of $*. A fight broke out in the hallway on Saturday night! Buffet was limited to what was available and no special request, i.e. cheese omlette was honored! Definitely would not return.

The room we stayed in was pretty small, but very cozy. We didn't have any problems with anything. The staff was very helpful. The Hotel was in a great location! Almost everything in DC is walking distance from Hotel Washington. The Sky Terrace Restaurant had an awesome view of DC! especially at night! We didn't eat there, however we did have some drinks and they were expensive.

The Hotel Wahington is a very, very old hotel. The rooms were clean but small and we made it work out for our family of four. The staff was more than helpful when we had questions and didn't mind our phone calls everynight requesting more towels that housekeeping forgot to leave. The location was perfect-within walking distance to everywhere we were going and very close to the Metro. If this is a sightseeing trip to D.C. I would recommend staying once at this hotel for the location alone.
