"Have stayed @ this Hojo twice in the last couple of months for one night each time prior to road races. Convenient location right off the interstate, but looks like it could use a little "sprucing up". Did like the jacuzzi tub the night before the marathon. The door to the room we stayed in the last time felt a little shakey, but overall it was fine for one night, but that's about it. No cleanliness issues, and there's a Friendly's restaurant attached to the hotel. "

Hotel of much lower quality than expected, way over-priced. Bed sheets rough, towels like sandpaper, floor lamp did not work, maintenance said wasn't working to fix things past 10:00 p.m., pool closed way too early (10:00 pm), A/C wouldn't stay on, etc.

My family (of four) and I needed a break and decided on Portland—yes, even in winter! There was still enough to do—and not buck seasonal crowds—and costs are moderate--adventure was to be ours! We chose the Howard Johnson Portland in part because of the solid reviews. We came prepared to enjoy the coastline, but we always looked forward to returning to HoJo: our large room, the hot breakfasts we could serve ourselves, and the swimming pool. What a great choice—maybe we can come back when the rest of the world does! (Oh yes, be careful you don’t search Portland, OR, for HoJo—just NOT the same!)
