STAY AWAY!!!
Do not be fooled by their hotel descreption...the only decent thing about this hotel is its proximity to the tourist attactions.
Breakfast is stale donuts, and instant coffee, and watered down orange juice...and is served in the small entry office...real class. ...Parking is a joke...I wouldnt park my bicycle there...Cars are parked 3 deep , because it is so small. Our room had hair in the shower, and unchanged sheets...and was tiny...you will need to work your way a round room, because it was so tight...and after complaining...they said they would not move me because i didnt pay a lot for the room!!! there was no in room phone (broken) and they wont allow u to use the phone at the check-in desk...but they suggest you walk 2 "long" blocks to a pay phone...nice. Our alarm clock in our room was broken, and I asked 4 times to have it exchanged...never happened, nor did they care. The walls are as thin as paper, and you can hear discussions in the hall, and the rooms above you. During my stay, a huge fight broke out by a couple in the room above me that went on for hours, and the owners did nothing about it. I complained the next morning..and they said I should have called the police myself...well knowing that I had no inroom phone.
The owners are arrogent and insulting...and dont care about you...one poor couple was waiting for his luggage ...3 days late, and the owner told him to use the pay phone down the street...poor guy!..I had enough after 3 days...and moved to the hjtel across the street...same price...this hotel is the worst...and the management worse...
The owners are rude, and dont care about you.

Front desk rude, not enough parking and worried about vehicle getting damaged, will never stay here again or recommended anyone to stay here. Still, I did not let my stay here ruin my wonderful trip to San Francisco.
We were very pleased.

The desk staff were friendly, the room was clean, the bathroom was huge. The recent remodel was pleasant. Our stay was short and we spent most of our time out but the room provided everything we needed. It is located on a busy street, which was noisy, (we are from the country and so we are unused to the noise) but it is The City after all. It is conveniently located and the free parking is terrific (this is why we chose this hotel). The walk to Fishermans Wharf was easy but there are hills, fast cars and much wind. This is not an elegant hotel but it is clean and for travelers that simply need a pleasant place to sleep ... it fits the bill. The elevator was not very fast but we enjoyed the view and sunsets from the top floor. It was great to be back in San Francisco. Enjoy!

Francisco Bay Inn on 1501 Lombard Street in San Francisco was okay. It wasn't good, it wasn't terrible, but just okay. First off, the front desk wasn't too friendly. They only lightened up when we talked about money (when they had my credit card in their hand, when we talked of the possibility of us booking a tour with them, etc). At other times, it was like they didn't even want anything to do with us. They asked us if we needed 2 queens or 1 (even if we booked a 2 queen room). Since 2 people from our group dropped out of the trip, it was just me and my boyfriend so we opted to get 1 queen. I asked if it was cheaper, they said NO. When I changed my mind and said I wanted the 2 queen instead, they said that one had no air conditioner (either they were lying to us, or they were going to give us a room with no AC. Both of which is bad.) So we opted for the 1 queen room. We got our room keys and went to our room via this really OLD elevator circa 1920's or something. The bathroom in our room was a little "dirty". It was cleaned, but it just LOOKED dirty. It looked so bad, I had to put toilet paper down on the seat before using it. The "free breakfast" the next morning ended at 9AM when check out was 11AM. So we couldn't really sleep in. The "free breakfast" consisted of old over riped browned bananas and super sweet pastries. Only thing "good" about this hotel was that it was in walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf. It took us about 15-20 minutes to walk there. So that's it. My honest opinion.

well I had seen some okay reviews for the price so that is why I chose this hotel. I thought for the price it should be pretty good. Well I was fooled..the pics on the website...are not a good enough description.....to bad you can't have a picture with smell......then NO ONE would stay there. The room smelled horrible.....I sent my husband to get some room air freshner.....
They brag about this being a strick non smoking hotel....well I guess thats as long as you don't go in the office to check in...because it smelled like crap...total smoke!!! As I saw on another review..the staff was rude. I asked them to call a cab and they acted like I was asking too much! As for the bum I heard about in another review back from April....well he was still there I guess as part of the tourist sites..heheh
I chose to have enough cocktails that night so that I could get myself to sleep there!
Don't choose this place unless you like stinky ..dirty...loud...rude places! Oh yeah the FREE parking...is only food if you don't mind parking like a sardine....TIGHT spots! Great for mini couper owners!! HEhehehehe
