fees fees fees and overcharging

  • April 1, 2008

Upon check in i was given a card that said that there was going to a fee of $5.00 for hotel stuff. Stuff I wasn't nor did i use. When checking out I was charged $7.50, When i asked at the desk they said oh that was last years card and fee, we haven't updated the cards to reflect the new fees. They would not do any thing about it, Bad customer service. That night we ordered a movie for kids, The screen said $12.99. When checking out our bill was for $14.99, When i questioned the difference the guy said ok i will change that for you. Sounds like a scam to me?...... On top of all this I already put $30.00 on the counter to cover the charges, the guy looks at the money and says ok here is your receipt and your all set. Oh you want to pay cash? i filled out a comment card reguarding the matters and requested a response back from the manager and I still have not received any response. Check your bill very carefully so you don't fall prey to the overcharging scams this hotels loves to do. The rooms were a bit smaller then what i am used to but very clean. Excellent tv's, but were a little to soft for my likings. i personally won't stay here again, but that doesn't mean you don't have to. Just be careful.

broken promises - hidden charges

I only stayed there because I had to, but will search for another hotel when possible. Issues were: 1. Room that was supposively blocked and reserved due to previous problems was not available upon arrival. 2. Critter cafe has an automatic / mandatory 18% gratuity charge that is not stated anywhere on the menu, signs etc.. and only when presented with the bill ( I ate alone). Service was poor. 3. They now charge for any 800 number ( though it is not posted on the phone )- When questioned on this, they said it is my responsibility to read the guest service book in each room. 4. Their guest service book states that newspapers would be delivered to the room daily, but in fact one must go down to the lobby to get one ( thus having to dress to get a paper to read in your room). - when questioned why they expect one to follow the guest book ( see # 3) but they do not follow what they say in what service they would provide. 5. When you sign in you are not TOLD about the extra 7.50 per day fee that is added on, just asked to initial a small box that is in small print in the middle of the page and sign at the bottom for your room. They explain everything else except this fee. 6. They want 6.15 for 15 minutes to use the computer in the business center. Rip off city. Its slow and unreliable I did fill out a comment card with contact info and they never contacted me. This hotel is privately owned so they have no higher management to appeal to nor have to answer to, so good luck on expecting issues to be resolved.

Everything about The Florida Hotel was excellant except the $* so call room service charge for stuff you don't need to maybe don't want. (water, internet, etc.) Weathe you use it or not. I did complain to the front desk and received a nice smile, and a sorry about that, have a nice day. Other than that it was great and look forward to staying there in the future.

HOTEL IS NOT THAT GREAT BUT THE MALL WAS!

I made a reservation a few days prior of arrival. When I checked in they quoted me a different price than the price I was given over the phone. I had to put up a fight for the price I was quoted. After speaking to a manager they gave me my original quote. The room was a little small, the bathroom was a little too small, and the bed was hard. However, the flat screen tv was great. I had a view of the mall and it was quite cool. Staying in a hotel connected to the mall was great!

A Hotel Connected To A Great Mall

What a nice treat to have this hotel connected to the Florida Mall. There was a Starbucks right in the lobby area which was great. However, room service could be improved. They never made up our beds or replaced our towels. Call room service waited about 45 mins and had to call again. Hard beds and very small pillows.
