Nice room / Horrible Front Desk employees

I had a nice one bedroom apartment with kitchennet, living and dining room. Clean room, ample space. Front Desk employees were horrible. They could care less if you were were there asking questions. This hotel needs to do something with their Front Desk employees. Hotels should focus on customer service.

HORRIBLE Management

Construction on several floors... management NOT responsive to requests to end construction. With a 13-month-old baby and an exhausted family, we were seeking rest at the end of the day... not banging on the walls and ceiling above us after 9pm at night!!! We booked 2 suites for more than a week, spending nearly $$$$ and the management still could have cared less about how frustrated we were by the noise. I felt sorry for the front desk staff, as they were obviously embarrassed by their manager. Not only that, but we watched with disgust out our window as the construction workers proceeded to drop "trou" outside and urinate on the generator. Tired facilities (was built as an apartment building in the 60s) and boring breakfast. Take your chances on staying here.

Good location, easy access to metro. Bad pool times.

Was traveling with a family of four. Room was worth the value, plenty of space to spread out. Having the kitchen saved us lots of money. The pool hours were terrible, didn't open until 10am and closed each day by 8pm. If you are traveling with kids take this into consideration. We usually didn't get back to the hotel until after 7pm and that left no time for the kids to just hang out by the pool to cool down and relax. Most hotels have their pool open until 10pm. Getting to the metro was very easy about 6 block walk. The hotel does have a shuttle to the metro, but doesn't run on the weekends. Disapointing. Iwo Jima only two blocks away!! Staff was friendly and helpful. Very accomodating. I would consider staying here again and highly encourage the Virginian Suites to change their pool hours.

Don' Stay Here

This hotel is dingy, off the beaten path, and generally poor value for money. The free breakfast wasn't even worth what it cost. You can do better in the DC area.

I enjoyed my stay

This was a great deal for the location. The staff was quite helpful and courteous with all of my questions. The location couldn't get much better. Right next to the Iwo Jima memorial and maybe a block from the national cemetery. I walked from the hotel, past the aforementioned sites, across the river, through the mall, and to Union Station. Couldn't have asked for a better day. Also there is a good restaurant/bar nearby called the Quarterdeck - decorated in early wharf-rat but the food was great.
