Aviod at all costs!!!!!

This was one the worse experiences I have ever had! Staff was very unfriendly and rude. There is a bell to ring to get staff attention but they become angry when you rang the bell for assistance...but they are never at the desk. I overheard the front desk staff and housekeeping making racial jokes and making fun of African Americans. This is not acceptable in the hospitality industry. My room smelled like cigarette smoke and was extremely dirty. The toilet was not clean and the bed blanket was soiled. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher. The manager was a complete jerk and was not interested in solving problems only "defending" his staff (as he put it) when I complained. You will have a better experience sleeping on a sidewalk.

I had a wonderful stay here! The room was very cleand and very nice. I was very excited that they had a dvd player, we watched movies all night! Also it was extremely nice to have a kitchen right there and also Old Chicago. The pool room was very nice and clean. My entire stay was better than expected. It was great. I definately recommend this to anyone that needs a GREAT place to stay.

Hot Tub Overdose

Great place to stay. Staff was very helpful. Only one BIG complaint, the hot tub had so much chlorine, you could smell it the minute you opened the pool door and when you sat in the hot tub, your eyes burned. You could not be in there for more than a minute or two. Staff said that the levels were correct, but something was definately wrong. I will give it another try shortly.

Bacteria in Jacuzzi

We had our daughters 13th birthday party here. There were many problems. Electrical outlets in rooms not working. Smoke alarm in room went off in middle of the night. All eight children contracted a bacterial skin infection called Folliculitis from the jacuzzi which apparently wasn't being maintained properly. The hotel manager basically dismissed my concerns and told me he would get back to me in two days. This was a horrible experience and I would not recommend it to anyone!

Best Hotel in Ames

This was my 2nd stay at the Grandstay hotel, and I think it is the best hotel in Ames. All the rooms are suites with full size fridge, microwave, stove, dishwasher, stove, and sink. The bedroom is separate from the living area, so it feels like home. The tvs are flat screen and have a dvd player. There is a pool, whirlpool, and exercise room. The staff is very friendly and professional, the hotel and rooms are spotless and clean, and they do have free breakfast which is also good. I wouldn't change anything about this hotel, it is great!
