Excellent room spotless bathroom and service! Everything was positively sparkling clean. Doorman and check-in staff always polite and helpful. Barking Dog cafe attached next door has excellent food and reasonable prices. Starbucks is 2 blocks away; small grocer on the corner has breakfasts and lunches to go and foods for your room's fridge. Excellent location; short walk to Macy's, Forever 21. Subways a couple of blocks; easy accessibility to everything. Grand Central Station a short walk. We stayed in July and had a blast. Only negative is that the hotel is close to hospitals and we heard alot of ambulences, but that is a small probelm in comparison to the hotel's positive points. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Good decision

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights with two teenage children. The hotel is in a great location, its clean and the staff were great. I would definately stay at this hotel on a future visit. There was a safe in the room for cash, passports etc which was reassuring. NY by the way has changed dramatically since I was last there, 25 years ago, its friendly, inviting and clean.

One of the best!

Having been to NY several times and stayed in some rooms that were less than their reviews and P.R. indicated, I thought the Affinia Dumont might be another disappointment--too good to be true. It was not! It was one of the best NY hotels we've experienced! We would definitely stay there again. The room was spacious and stylish, plenty big enough for the 3 of us, with comfortable beds, a selection of pillows, ample closet and drawer space, 3 full-length mirrors, a large desk/work space, a bathroom with more-than-enough counter surface, plus a kitchenette complete with a small stove, sink, refrigerator, plates, and cooking and eating utensils. We stayed 5 nights this June and found the entire staff to be unfailingly pleasant, helpful and friendly. Very good iced tea and fresh fruit was always offered in the small but comfortable lobby. This hotel is located in the Murray Hill neighborhood, which is safer and much quieter than many other areas of the city. One drawback for some may be that the nearest subway stop is a couple of blocks away, but we like to take busses (we see more of the city that way) and there's a cross-town on 34th, right in front of the hotel. Be sure to try The Barking Dog, the clever, reasonably-priced cafe next door. We ate breakfast there every day.

This is a wonderful hotel - very clean, very nice. We felt totally safe there. The staff is friendly and very helpful. After a busy noisy day sightseeing it was great to come 'home' to a quiet place. The fully equipped kitchen and market next door saved us tons of money. I wouldn't stay anywhere else if I go back to NYC. It was perfect in every way.

GREAT EXPERIENCE!

My wife and I just stayed here for 3 nights for our Anniversary and it was our first time at any Affinia hotel. our experience was fantastic!! Hotel staff was friendly, room was clean, we upgraded to a junior suite and by NYC hotel room standards, it was HUGE (not like the cruise ship cabin sized rooms we are used to in the city). Upon check in I asked for a corner room up high which they gladly accommodated and provided an amazing view of hte city 35 floors up. Food was great and room service was very reasonably priced which was surprising given the cost of food in NYC. Our only wish was that it was a little closer to mid-town but it turns out only to be a 10-15 minute walk and the exercise did us good. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel, we had a phenomenal experience. The only minor complaint that we have is the the TV was a little dated with a fairly poor picture... if they upgrade to flat screens there would be no complaint whatsoever. Then again, we didn't come to NYC to watch TV so it really didn't matter to us.
